Collection Starter: Air Jordan 3 White/Cement (2003)

“These were the sneakers growing up I had to have one day. As a kid looking at the image of the 1988 dunk competition, the shoes he was wearing at the time is what I connected to MJ. So when I saw them on eBay for a good price in 2005, I got them. Shipping felt like an eternity, but when they were delivered it was a moment I’ll never forget.”

Personal Favorite: Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” (2009)

“This is my favorite sneaker of all time. To me, the Air Jordan 11 took it to another level, and this colorway is just so clean. The patent leather, that white midsole, and of course the icy soles. Plus, Space Jam is one of my favorite movies. Every time he laces these up at the end to take on the Monstars, I just have to go check mine out once it’s over.”

Most Rare Pair: Air Jordan 6/11 Defining Moments Pack (2006)

“I remember when these released, it wasn’t long from the time I started collecting sneakers. I loved the pack the moment I saw it. There wasn’t a release in Australia, but I found a pack in the United States soon after for a price that was a steal compared to what a dead stock pair goes for now. I picked up a second pack not long after. It was the first time I had to double up with one to wear and one to keep. I’m glad I did because trying to find them in my size now would be a hard task.”

Oldest Pair: Air Jordan 1 Black/Red (2001)

“These have so much history with the tag of being the sneaker the league banned in 1985. These were one of the first pairs I picked up, and I love the Air Jordan 1 silhouette. They hold a special place in my collection.”

Most Frequent Wear: Air Jordan 5 “Metallic” (2007)

“The “Metallics” are my go-to shoe. Any time I travel, they’re the first pair I pack. I wear them more than any other sneaker. They’re so comfortable. The 3M tongue and icy soles set them off. They’ve yellowed over time, but it just adds character. They’ll never be scrubbed clean.”

Post a picture of your collection as a whole on Instagram with the hashtag #communitycollections, or send it to info@snkrsday.com for a chance to be featured on Snkrs Day’ next edition of Community Collections.

This week, Community Collections goes international to feature a sneaker lover from Down Under.
