Collection Summary

“My collection no doubt falls under the “quality over quantity” umbrella. All of the shoes I own have sentimental value to me. Since I was a kid, everything about Nike intrigued me. The athletes , the commercials, and the technology (cushioning, support and materials) were all areas that I felt Nike was a step ahead. That almost made me feel privileged to don the “Swoosh” exclusively; by choice of course. I also grew up playing basketball, which is where my love of all things Nike Basketball related in the late ’90s and early 2000s really stemmed from. It was only natural with my fondness of Nike that Air Jordans were soon to follow. The day finally came in 2002 where I was able to land my first job, and what did I do with my first check? Went to the mall and bought the Air Jordan VI Low in White/University Blue, naturally. The rest is history.”

Most Rare Pair:Nike Air Zoom Kidd “Morph” (2001)

“The main reason I consider these to be my rarest pair is because other than myself, only other person I’ve ever seen in them was Jason Kidd. I love these right here. Easily my favorite skin from the Morph Series.”

Collection Starter: Air Jordan 16 Black/ Varsity Red (2001/2008)

“Everything about the Air Jordan XVI had me mesmerized as a kid. The look and the fact that they released on MJ’s birthday; but most of all, the “Much Respect” ad campaign. By far my favorite Air Jordan commercial. Anytime I hear “Umi Says” by Mos Def, I instantly reminisce and think about the Air Jordan XVI; and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Even though I outgrew the original pair I had as a kid, this CDP retro pair from 2008 has captivated me just as much.”

Most Frequent Wear:Nike Shox VC III (2002)

“This is a tough one for me, because I wear ALL of my shoes in a rotation. But I have worn these Nike VC III’s a few times on court as of late.”

Personal Favorite: Air Jordan 11 “Concord” (2000/2011)

“What is really left to say about the XI that hasn’t been said already? Well I can say this: Back in 2000 I was in the 7th grade. Like every other 13 year old basketball fan, I had pictures of all my favorite players on my wall. But amongst the pictures of Shaq, Kemp, Garnett, Payton, McDyess and Jordan were different shots of the Air Jordan XI I had cut out from different magazines. Endless love from a young age.”

Oldest Pair: Nike Total Air Foamposite Max (1998)

“Even though this pair is from 1998, I actually played ball in them about a month ago. Of course in classic Foamposite fashion, they held up just fine. Total Max airbag included.”

Post a picture of your collection as a whole on Instagram with the hashtag #communitycollections, or send it to info@snkrsday.com for a chance to be featured on Snkrs Day’ next edition of Community Collections.

Community Collections kicks off a December lineup full of surprises by hiking north across the border.
