Everyone has that one shoe that they will never, ever part with. Whether it represents a special moment of yours or just simply stands as your go-to sneaker, that one shoe is linked to you for whatever reason. And guess what? Someone couldn’t pry it out of your hands with any amount of force.

Our eighth installment of Kick Chronicles spotlights multiple members of the Snkrs Day staff detailing the one shoe they will never part with. Check out each staff member’s installment, and share details about the one shoe you will never part with below.

This seems to be a regular pair of age-old Pro Models, but they hold significant value to me. This is the Pro Model that I wore for the majority of my senior year in high school. Before my senior year, my high school basketball team had never sniffed the postseason; we never knew what it felt like to have a season after district games. Yet in 2003, we not only made it to the playoffs but also to the state tournament in Austin at the University of Texas. It’s been 10 years since that Cinderella run, and yes, I still have these because it represents a fun and memorable moment in time for me. Unfortunately, we lost in the semifinals, but when I look at this shoe – and all of the motivating messages I wrote on them – I’m reminded of that run and my teammates that year, whom I still keep in touch with from time to time.

Twitter: @geokthree/Instagram: geokthree

The older I get, the more shoes I get, the less attached I get to each pair. I’ve still never really sold a pair of sneakers so I guess I’m more attached to my kicks than I think I am, but at the end of the day I’ve been real blessed in the footwear department and I could part with some. The “Dark Neon Royal” Foamposite Ones though? That’s tough. Those were the shoes that I always oggled at Playmakers in the Meridian Mall when I was a pint sized Penny fan in elementary school. While my mom gave me all the love and shoes I could ever want as a kid, a pair of $180 shoes wasn’t happening for my fast growing feet or imagination. Heck, I was even Mike Bibby for Halloween in fifth grade in hopes of getting a pair to perfect my costume. No dice. A year later, the less expensive Penny 3s would soothe my Foam fiending, but as they say, “ain’t nothing like the real thing.”

Fast forward to 2007. After lots of NikeTalking about the molds being too expensive rebuild and hunting down my long lost love like Ben Stiller in There’s Something About Mary, the famous Foams finally got the retro treatment in OG but of course limited fashion. For the first time in my life I paid more the retail for a sneaker (no snobbery, just frugal) and got these off Pick Your Shoes for $260 something with my 19th birthday money. Truth be told, these spent more time in my South Wonders dorm room than in the streets or hallways of East Lansing, but I was giddy to have my grails.

These are the shoes that I wore when I came down to visit Snkrs Day before I interned. These were the shoes that always filled the answer space in the theoretical “if your house is on fire, what is the one material item you run in and save” question before I even had them, or the first purchase when I won the lottery. I’m not gonna front like I’m not somewhat of a jaded Penny/Foam fan with the recent rise in popularity and colorways. That may downplay the chase or the exclusivity, but it doesn’t change the memories. These are still the ones for me and always will be.

Twitter: @ianstonebrook/Instagram: ianstonebrook

Twitter: @AllisonHalfhill

The one shoe I’ll never part are the Dunk Low iDs I made for my wedding. I couldn’t pull off my favorite shoes, Jordan 3s, with my tux, so I used those for my groom’s cake (http://instagram.com/p/ Twitter: @petersim/Instagram: petersim

Weird wins this #KickChronicles question for me. I was lucky enough to receive a pair of the “ParaNorman” Foamposites courtesy of the Laika/Nike contest, and while I haven’t worn the sneakers yet, I couldn’t wait to “undeadstock” the box and check out the kicks. I can’t foresee myself parting with this pair under any circumstances, as the shoes represent the ultimate combination of two of my passions: film and sneakers.

Twitter: @shelton_britt/Instagram: shelton_britt

The one shoe I will never ever part with would have to be my Defining Moments Pack 11’s. One of my favorite sneaker silhouettes of all time, the Air Jordan 11 is just a beautiful shoe. Back in ’06 when they released, I didn’t have the funds to pick up the whole pack, so I initially missed out on this sneaker. About 2 years passed, and some how Tall T, one of my best friends stumbled upon a DS pack, so of course he copped. I begged him to let me buy the 11s from him for weeks, but he would never make the transaction. Then a couple days before I went off to UT, I went to Tall T’s house to say my farewells to his family. While I was talking to his father, Tall T came down the stairs with the DMPs in hand. I thought he was finally going to sell them to me, but to my surprise he said “Here, I’m proud of you.” and handed me half of his DMP pack. This was easily the nicest thing any one had ever done for me, so that’s why I could never ever, ever ever part with my DMP 11’s.

Twitter: @C_White1911/Instagram: c_white1911

So this particular pair of Vans Eras may not be the prettiest pair of kicks in my closet, in fact, they are far from it, but I can tell you know that will never, ever part with this sneaker! We first met six or seven years ago when I was in high school, and I found them on the back wall at a Vans outlet store for $20. Back then, I was pretty much strictly wearing Air Force 1s, so a pair of Vans was kind of a reach for me, but copping was a decision I have never regretted since.

With a simple, toned-down black/white color scheme, this pair of sneakers went with just about all of my clothes, and they quickly became my go-to sneaker. They were just so versatile. I could lace them up for casual wear, skate them, and even get a little dressed up for the club in them. I definitely had some wild nights in these bad boys, and I’m sure there will still be more to come.

My Vans Eras have definitely seen better days. The glue around the midsole has now yellowed, and they have a fairly large rip in the toe-box, but they still have plenty of miles left in them, and my full intentions are to wear them until they just can’t possibly take anymore. There would be no point in selling them, because they aren’t worth anything to anyone except me, and I wouldn’t trade the memories I’ve had in this sneaker for anything.

Twitter: @MikePDiddy/Instagram: mikepdiddy

If my apartment was burning in flames and I could only grab one pair of shoes, it would be my Nike Air Max Fly By TBs. Forget the valuables, I believe in memories over materials, and these represent one of my best times of my life. They’re the shoes that Nike sent our Oakland University basketball team when we made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2011. They were a part of the “Chain Link” Collection that were made exclusively for the Big Dance. I remember walking into the locker room on selection Sunday and seeing them in everyone’s locker- they were the first pair we got that actually included our school colors of black and gold. Laced them up the very next day for practice, and then in our first round game against Texas. The next two seasons, Drew Valentine, Travis Bader and I would break them out again for special occasions. I’ll keep this pair forever, and not because of the shoes, but rather the irreplaceable memories that they represent with my Golden Grizzlies family.

Twitter: @JHowieee/Instagram: JHowieee

**Note** Send a Kick Chronicle about the one shoe you will never part with to info@snkrsday.com for a chance to be featured on the site next week.
