In this installment of Kick Chronicles, we asked various readers of the site – through social media – to recall their most memorable sneaker mishaps. You’ve read the Snkrs Day staff’s mishap stories already, but now it’s your turn. Check out some of the most disastrous responses from sneakerheads all across the world.

My most memorable sneaker mishap happened about six years ago when I was coming home from college for the winter holidays. I had packed three pairs of Nike Dunks in a duffle bag – the SB De La Soul High, the “Bison Brown” Premium Mighty Crown and the “Santana” Premium Dunk. So, I arrived in NYC awaiting my aunt’s car to pick me & my girlfriend (at the time) up. When she got there, I loaded a bunch of our bags in my aunt’s car, and we headed home. The following day, I was ready to wear my De La Soul Dunks but couldn’t find them in the duffle bag. I assumed that I left them in my aunt’s car, so I wasn’t worried at all. It was once I called my aunt and confirmed with her that there was no duffle bag left behind in the car that I realized that they were left outside of where my aunt had picked us up. Three pairs of great-conditioned footwear gone just like that. I drove back to the place a day after but of course the bag wasn’t there. To this day it still hurts, but I re-purchased the De La Soul Dunks because that shoe is my holy grail, and I wouldn’t feel complete without them. Whomever found that duffle was Charlie Sheen – “winning” that year.

I’ve only worn my “Citrus” Air Jordan 7s three times. The first two times it poured down raining on my shoes when rain wasn’t even a part of the forecast those days. The third and last time I laced them up, a stripper pierced and penetrated her stiletto pump heel into one of them on accident. I haven’t worn them since.

I have a story of ruining my White/Red Air Jordan 14s. So, I had the 14s marked on my calendar, anticipating the re-release of one of my favorite Jordans. Knowing it was a QS release, I woke up early Friday morning and camped out a couple of hours before the store opened to secure my pair. Surely enough, I was able to purchase my pair, and I was ecstatic. So the next day, I wore them immediately to a family outing because I was anxious to get them on my feet. I arrive to my destination, and began conversing and engaging with my family. Next thing I know, my cousin comes through on a dirt bike and asks me if I want to take it for a spin. I said, “Sure” and proceeded to take it around the block. First lap, so far so good; second lap, great. The third lap rolls around, and I lean too much in on one side and fall. Luckily, I had a helmet on, but I glanced at my 14s and the whole right side was scraped off. I was so disappointed in myself. Besides the fact I ruined a new pair of sneakers, I enjoyed the rest of the day.

Twitter: @jTOtheOV94/Instagram: jovymastah Once, I was standing in line at the gas station, and a lady in front of me was fumbling through her purse. Seconds later, a bottle of brown nail polish falls out and breaks, splattering all over my all-white Air Max 97s.

Ah, it was 8th grade. Before the school year, I copped a pair of “Citrus” Air Jordan 9s and rocked them everyday. I was also on the football team, and I remember my cleats got stolen before a game that year. Sadly, I couldn’t borrow anyone else’s since they were all playing. I had nowhere else to turn but to wear my “Citrus” 9s out on the turf. I tried being as careful as possible, but I played on the offensive line, and I already had the opposing defensive lineman and linebackers stepping on them. Running through the turf didn’t help at all either or when people fell on them following a tackle and what not. They were completely trashed after the game. I never wore them ever again after that. It was one sad day, man.

Twitter: @joshdhani/Instagram: joshdhaniBobby C.
