As Mike WiLL Made It&#8217;s &#8220;23&#8221; begins to make its rounds on radio stations, we take a look back at some of the most well-known tracks covered in footprints. Take a look back at the long lineage of songs about sneaker and give us your favorites in the comment section.<\/p>\n<h2>My Adidas<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/16eA6uJ9hsA\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;My adidas&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Run DMC<\/p>\n<p>Released on the classic <em>Raising Hell<\/em> album and produced by Rick Rubin, \u201cMy adidas\u201d saw figurative and literal commercial success, landing Run DMC an adidas ad spot after landing at <a title=\"Run DMC Message to adidas - YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0Rhp8uKTI2U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">top ten spot on the charts<\/a>. Being laced, or rather, unlaced, was enough for the Hollis trio to get official endorsement from the Three Stripes back in the &#8217;80s and all the way up to today.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Vans<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5fR2OgGbKds\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Vans&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> The Pack<\/p>\n<p>So Cal, the music video for \u201cVans\u201d by The Pack saw the mainstream introduction of Lil B and Too $hort tossing Air Force 1s in a trash can. Ranked the #5 song of 2006 by Rolling Stone, the track got heavy rotation on radio and even endorsement from the mixtape Weezy. Though not a commercial, its product promoting lyrics were enough for MTV to censor the word \u201cVans\u201d from the video. A \u201cBanned\u201d 1-esque moment? One could argue so, as the \u201cpunk rock shoe\u201d started to pop with hip-hop heads and the mainstream, flying out of Journeys stores in more than just Cali all while remaining authentic to their OG skate style.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Wings<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gAg3uMlNyHA\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Wings&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Macklemore &amp; Ryan Lewis<\/p>\n<p>A star on the rise, Macklemore shared his early love for sneaker culture as well as the perils of consumerism on &#8220;Wings.&#8221; The video featured imagery iconic from Nike and Jordan Brand campaigns and was even featured for use in NBA All-Star 2013 promo. Macklemore did an excellent job of breaking down they meaning of the song here.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>88<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8yyD6XvslVU\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;88&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Wale<\/p>\n<p>Though not a posse cut, Wale still bought Js for the whole team on &#8220;88.&#8221; This ode to the AJ line and the city of Chicago makes references to many of the famed retro releases, using the imagery of Jordan dunking from the free throw line as motivation to be great and support his team. Check out a list of the sneaker nickname drops here.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Air Force 1s<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Air Force 1s&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Nelly ft. Kyjuan, Ali &amp; Murphy Lee<\/p>\n<p>Infinite quotables, cameos from Torry Holt, Manny Fresh and more made the song and video for Nelly&#8217;s &#8220;Air Force 1s&#8221; more than memorable. While the record may come off as slightly dated these days, it&#8217;s hard to argue that there was a bigger song about sneakers.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Classic<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YCU-qgR_4bM\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Classic&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Kanye West, Nas, KRS-One &amp; Rakim<\/p>\n<p>DJ Premier laced an all-star roster of MCs for Nike&#8217;s 25th Anniversary tribute to the Air Force 1. The result was a tough record that came off more celebratory than promotional and a rare occasion to see so many legends on the same track.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Nike Boots<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7I1QxABdYYc\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Nike Boots&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Wale<\/p>\n<p>In many ways the breakthrough record for Wale, &#8220;Nike Boots&#8221; put on DC and the style the capital is known for. More about the city than footwear, the song made a metaphor of the Goadome model. The ACG boot would soon propel in popularity in standard and Foamdome form.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Black Friday Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Black Friday Freestyle&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Bun B<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eeXN0t2ks1w\" height=\"382\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Keeping it Texas, Bun freestyled over the classic &#8220;Mind Playing Trick on Me&#8221; beat to promote his buddy DJ Clark Kent&#8217;s famed Air Force 1 release. The song appeared on mixtape that corresponded with the limited launch.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Check the Sign<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Check the Sign&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Big KRIT featuring Bun B<\/p>\n<p>Want to walk a mile in Big KRIT or Bun B&#8217;s sneakers? They better be Jordans. Part of the XX8 Days of Flight campaign, the track packs historical references to both artists&#8217; careers and kick game.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Stepped on my Js<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oohCQPABS7I\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Stepped on my Js&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Nelly ft. Jermaine Dupri &amp; Ciara<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Stepped on my Js&#8221; dance might not have caught on, but the video did see references to <em>Do the Right Thing<\/em>, Mars Blackmon ads and an unofficial Sneak Peek from JD y&#8217;all.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Sneakers<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Sneakers&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Raekwon<\/p>\n<p>Raekwon&#8217;s sophomore solo effort found the Chef serving up a track all about kicks. A timely Nas sample stood in for a chorus, while Rae&#8217;s diverse in sneakers was backed later by his My 5.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Sneakerhead<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pXX8uxuDPt0\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Sneakerhead&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Mistah FAB<\/p>\n<p>Straight from the stockroom, Mistah FAB put on his favorite pairs in &#8220;Sneakerhead.&#8221; Chopped up home videos from YouTube spliced up the visual.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Reebok Back<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Reebok Back&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Meek Mill featuring Rick Ross &amp; Swizz Beatz<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/erLgNTJzrTU\" height=\"382\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Self Made<\/em> standout &#8220;Tupac Back&#8221; got a Reebok remix soon after Swizz became frontman for the Classics collection. Rozay would go on to sign with Reebok while Meek Mill would appear in ad campaigns.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Nikes On My Feet<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a-rqu-hjobc\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Nikes on My Feet&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Mac Miller<\/p>\n<p>A chopped up Esco sample paired with plenty of Nike name drops and Swoosh sightings appeared on the visual for the fan favorite Mac Miller mixtape cut. An official video is on the way, but until then the sneaker nickname drops can be seen here.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Fitted Cap<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y77PtOnU1TM\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Fitted Cap&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Wale featuring Rick Ross, Meek Mill &amp; J. Cole<\/p>\n<p>Wale, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and J. Cole spit about SBs, Jordans, streetwear and more on the <em>Self Made Vol. 1<\/em> fly guy anthem. The track sent the blogs abuzz but didn&#8217;t get the video treatment.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Kicks<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uuZOLqyLHfA\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Kicks&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Wale<\/p>\n<p>Before &#8220;Nike Boots&#8221; and &#8220;88,&#8221; Folarin flowed about kicks on the aptly named song. The track appeared on the <em>Hate is the New Love<\/em> mixtape back in &#8217;06, showcasing the DMV reppers NT vocab.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>K.R.E.A.M.<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XzbHry41fgo\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;K.R.E.A.M.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> U-N-I<\/p>\n<p>All about Airs and more, &#8220;K.R.E.A.M.&#8221; by U-N-I flipped the Wu Tang record and famous acronym in a song all about sneakers. Like other records on the list, this song made use of a vocal sample, putting the most stylish line from Lupe Fiasco&#8217;s &#8220;Kick, Push&#8221; on the hook.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Tennis Shoes<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ate18ZVNmAI\" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Song:<\/strong> &#8220;Tennis Shoes&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Artist:<\/strong> Dom Kennedy<\/p>\n<p>Dom Kennedy shared his childhood sneaker memories and retro wish list on the track &#8220;Tennis Shoes.&#8221; What was Dom rocking the last time we caught up?
