Just last week, each staff member on the Snkrs Day team shared elaborate stories of their most memorable first-day-of-school sneakers and even unleashed a surprising few Day 1 photos in our latest installment of Kick Chronicles.

As a follow-up, we asked multiple fans of the site, through various social media outlets, about their most memorable first-day-of-school shoe. Check out some of the detailed responses from sneakerheads all across the world.

Twitter: @AngDOOM

My most memorable back-to-school shoe was the White/Cement Air Jordan 3 retro from 1994. That was my sophomore year in high school. I wanted the Black Cements, but they didn’t have my size at Champs. So, I went to Feet First to see if they had them, but instead, they were stocking the White Cements. I remember some people asking me why I would buy an old shoe design, but I knew that wearing an old Jordan was cool and judging by the retro craze of the last few years, I was right.

Twitter: @shawnpaz

For most of my first days of school, I would usually don the classic, white-on-white Air Force 1s simply because they would go with pretty much anything. Occasionally, I would switch from the low tops to mid tops for a cleaner and classier look. My family wasn’t the wealthiest of families so even buying those $70-$85 shoes was a stretch, so that meant Air Jordans were out of the question. Yet, one summer, after saving up birthday money and work money, I was able to purchase my first pair of Jordans with my own money. It was the beautiful but often forgotten “Black Cat” Air Jordan 3; the patent leather mudguard, the pure black nubuck and those elephant print laces! The first day of school was amazing. Everyone kept asking me where I got my Jordans from, and some even asked me if they could borrow them. I loved that feeling. The “Black Cat” 3 was the shoe that catapulted me into collecting sneakers.

This classic mid top Air Force 1 was my favorite first-day-of-school sneaker ever. I knew these were the shoes I needed from the very first time I laid eyes on this pair. All summer, I contemplated on which sneakers I would choose for my first day of high school, and I finally decided on this pair by the end of the summer. Then, I found the perfect t-shirt to match.

Twitter: @SammyCaloras/Instagram: jumpmansam

This year, I’m breaking out my “Hazelnut” LeBron X EXT for the first day, but my shoe selection on my first day of high school was one that turned heads and introduced me to some follow sneaker lovers. I wore my “Miro” 7, a sneaker that most kids had no clue existed. I received ignorant questions like, ‘Are those fake?’ and even, ‘Did you color those yourself?’ Yet, as the day progressed kids who knew their shoes showed me respect and started me on the right foot for high school. Since then, a lot of people turned to me for information, and I have many new friends because of a love of kicks. That first day was a good one.

Twitter: @jdumbz/Instagram: _jdmesa

As a private school student, finding all-black shoes that are dressy enough for our uniform code – but clean enough to look fresh – is a hard task. My first choice was the all-black patent leather Air Force 1s, but my mom told me that they weren’t dressy enough and that I’d get stuck with a uniform infraction. So as I searched some more, I found the perfect shoe: the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Mid Premium Brogue “Black Wingtips.” I had no idea that I would find them over a year after their release. And the best part? I found them marked down to $30. So as you would think, I picked them up. When I got to school, where all my friends showed up in their PayLess dress shoes, you could expect that I had the nicest kicks in the school.

Twitter: @Laced_Heat/Instagram: Laced_Heat

The year was 1994; it was back-to-school time for me, and I had just moved to a new town. My parents never had much money so getting a fancy pair of shoes wasn’t something common in my household. I would get new shoes every year, but they would always be the ones on sale or on the clearance racks while all the other kids in school were rocking Ewings and Jordans.

Twitter: @GoodsWrapper/Instagram: goodswrapper

I got the UNDFTD Nike Dunk High NL from the “Clerks” Pack during my summer before my junior year of high school. I saved up all the money I got from working as a camp counselor and made a trip to Flight Club in New York to buy a new pair of sneakers. These were one of my top choices. I ended up dropping $400 on them, but I loved them so much that it didn’t matter. When I wore them the first day of school with a De La Soul t-shirt, everybody was looking down at my feet as I walked by and tons of people said they were dope. I felt like the flyest guy in school that day.

Angelo Sourias
