Before his days of yelling “Action!” and gaining traction in the music video realm (congratulations on the BET Hip Hop Award Nomination<\/a>), Georgia’s own\u00a0Decatur Dan<\/strong> was rooted in the sneaker game. While still humble beyond his hustle, having relocated to Hollywood, he also remains true to his sneakerhead roots. Taking a step away from the director’s chair, Decatur Dan took the time to sit down with us and discuss the kicks he laces up on and off of the set, as he fills us in on his current My 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UNDFTD x Nike Dunk High “Clerk” Pack<\/h2>\n

Decatur Dan:<\/strong> “I keep it simple. Jeans and a white tee, with the shoes pretty much making the outfit. This shoe has always been one of my favorites. I bought it on accident. It kind of slept under the radar and ended up being at Walter’s, and they got only 8-12 pairs in. Super comfortable. Super clean.”

Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Navy\/White<\/h2>\n

Decatur Dan:<\/strong> “Chucks are one of those shoes that always looks good on other people’s feet, but whenever I try to find a pair, I never could get into them because I didn’t like they way they looked on my feet. I came across these at WISH in Atlanta, and I was instantly drawn to them, tried them on, and they were super comfortable. They’re premium. I think they were $279 retail. That’s all hand-woven. Navy’s my favorite color.”

Nike Benassi Swoosh Slide Black\/White<\/h2>\n

Decatur Dan:<\/strong> “Growing up in Atlanta, ‘flip-flops and socks’ was a phrase coined by Big Boi from OutKast. I grew up playing basketball, and you never really wanted to wear your sneakers unless you’re wearing them on the court, so you’d always have the slides on with your quarter-length socks. Now, whether I hit the grocery store or just chill, I throw on socks and slides. You gotta have socks. Unless I’m at the beach or the pool, I don’t really have my toes out like that.”

Air Jordan 13 Retro “Flint”<\/h2>\n

Decatur Dan:<\/strong> “The 13 is probably my all-time favorite Jordan silhouette – the last great one by Tinker, in my opinion. In 7th grade, we played our basketball games on Saturday, and our school colors were actually grey, blue and white. So, I remember distinctively waking up my dad, going to the mall, buying these shoes with the money I had saved and wearing them on the court – playing in them. Nobody did that. They were expensive, so you know, you wanted to wear them in class, keep them as clean as possible. For me, I felt, if you look good, you feel good, and if you feel good, you’ll play good. I never really wore the team-issued shoes, because I had to have my own personality. Now, it’s more of a shoe that I rock casually, not even with jeans. I kind of reserve them now for chill moments, like the slides.”

Nike Roshe Run iD Black\/Volt<\/h2>\n

Decatur Dan:<\/strong> “Roshes are probably the most comfortable shoe, and I love the design of it because it’s so simple, so minimal. I’ve been looking for the all-black pair and couldn’t find any, so I just decided to go make them. I made them a little special and threw in the volt liner in there, with the alternate volt laces just in case. They kind of remind me of those KAWS Air Max 90s.
