There was sneaker news aplenty this past week, mostly in the form of some fan favorites receiving a refreshing color change up. Reflecting back on the past seven days of shoe news, our team has taken the time to give their take on the recent standouts. In this week’s Staff Picks, you’ll find that although our tastes may vary, some kicks are just undeniable. Is there a staffer whose choice of kicks are always on point? Leave a line in the comments on who made the #1 pick this time around.

“It is no secret that the Nike Free Inneva Woven is one of my favorite shoes of all time. This colorway is a must cop for myself with a simple one color upper with the pop of salmon on the navy base.”

Nike KD V “305” Custom

“The midsole on these KD Customs is so sick. They look amazing in the day, but to learn that they glow in the dark as well, puts them over the top.”

Air Jordan 5 “Fear”

“I’m really digging the “Fear” Air Jordan 5. It reminds me a lot of the “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 5 of 2011 because of its simplicity in color and uniqueness in material.”

Concepts X New Balance 998 Sample

“My staff pick is the Concepts x New Balance 998 sample. We don’t even know what the entire shoe looks like, but it looks like a really strong colorway and the 998 is one of my favorite silhouettes. The light mint is a really popular color this year and I love the salmon hits on the tongue and midsole. I think Concepts has another banger with this one so I hope it hits the shelves this year.”

Nike KD VI “Chroma” iD Option Preview

“I’ve fiddled with the KD VI options on NIKEiD a few times, but the upcoming “Chroma” option previewed by KD this week might motivate me to finally place an order. The color-shifting quality of the upcoming option helps make the shoe’s already unique upper even more dynamic. I’m in.”

Nike SB Eric Koston FR “Liquid Lime”

“Lots of great kicks to choose from this week. While I was tossing and turning between which “Mambacurial” custom to pick, I decided to go against the grain with a silo I’ve been sleeping on for a few seasons. The Nike SB Eric Koston FR “Liquid Lime” plays to forecast for the next four months. As temps hover around 100 degrees for the remainder of the summer, this low top cut and mesh base could be the move. Conversely, once jean weather really hits (that’s about 90 degrees down here in Tejas) I can see this looking good with some denim that’s light and loose.”

Nike Kobe 8 “Fireworks”

“The Nike Kobe 8 is by far my favorite shoe to hoop in this year, if not of all time. Just when you thought we’d seen all the explosive colorways, images of the “Firework” 8’s surface. I can only hope these release stateside.”

Nike Lunar Flyknit Chukka Grey/Black

“The flyknit technology has really grown on me. I’ve been waiting on that color balance of black and white and this color way has answered my call!”

Reebok Insta Pump Fury “F1 Racing” Pack

“Normally I like sneakers that are a bit more low key, but when I saw the Reebok Insta Pump Fury “F1 Racing” Pack, it really reminded me of the aesthetics of a Formula One car.

The red pair is definitely my favorite. The red/green/yellow colorway is a nice nod to the great Ferrari team and the Italian flag, but the green and yellow accents are also the helmet colors of one of my favorite F1 drivers in history, Ayrton Senna.”

BAIT x Reebok Question “Snake”

“The BAIT x Reebok Question “Snake” is probably one of my top five favorite shoes to release this year. The materials usage is on point, and the glow-in-the-dark midsole took these things to another level. I will definitely try and scoop these up.”

size? X Nike Air Huarache OG

“I’m currently focused on the diversification of my collection, and the Nike Air Huarache is a shoe that has evaded my grasp for one reason or another. Big ups to size? for this exclusive, because I doubt I’m letting these slip by me.”

Reebok Question “#1 Draft Pick”

“The combination of blue suede and the speckled mid-sole is so smooth on this Reebok Question.”

Nike KD VI “NYC 66”

“Usually I’m not a fan of loud solids, but the contrasting grey in this KD VI levels it out. I got a chance to play in Durantula’s latest for the first time the other day and I liked how sleek they were on-foot, so this might be the next pair I lace.”
