Yesterday, news surfaced of Nate Robinson agreeing to a deal with the Denver Nuggets. After being able to wear just about any Air Jordan that he wanted to while in Chicago, Robinson will now have to go in a totally different direction in regards to the kicks he brings to the court. What will he wear in Denver? Instead of including all of the shoes that match the Nuggets’ color scheme, we chose a select few that Nate could potentially rock next season.

Over the past couple of years, we have gotten the chance to interact with Nate Robinson and find out why he chooses the shoes that he wears on court. According to his preferences, previous Kicks On Court resumes and childhood favorites, here are 10 Kicks On Court That Make Sense For Nate Robinson in Denver.

**Note** Nate Robinson’s quotes in this feature are from past discussions we’ve had with him and are incorporated to show why these shoes make sense for him to wear.

“I remember back in the day, when Jordan wore the 7s, something magical always happened. He always performed at high levels, but it was something different when he laced up the 7s. Some of the Jordans still have that juice that MJ left in them, and the 7 is one of them.” – Nate Robinson

Why: First off, there are not many Air Jordan 7 colorways that feature the Denver Nuggets colorway or a color scheme that even comes close to it. However, seeing that Nate is obviously a big fan of the 7, we expect to find that “juice” in this pair or another one we have on this list. Keep clicking.

“Penny was one of my favorite players growing up next to Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. I’m a big Penny fan. I had every Penny shoe that came out.” – Nate Robinson

Why: We haven’t seen Nate Robinson wear anything close to a Foam since he donned the “Kryptonate” Foamposite Lite in the 2009 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Fresh off the heels of his all-Jordan season this past year, it would be great to see Robinson rock this Foam Pro on court. He can borrow them from his new teammate Wilson Chandler if all else fails.

“The 13 is my ultimate favorite Jordan, and they’re the most comfortable sneakers to wear. They have great ankle support; they’re comfortable; they look good; they feel good. They just give me the swagger that I need to out on the court and feel like myself.” – Nate Robinson

Why: We all know the Air Jordan 13 is Nate Robinson’s favorite. Heck, he wore them for about 20 straight games at one point during last season. We could potentially see these two colorways on Nate Robinson’s feet again and again this upcoming season, which isn’t bad at all. Now, to really garner attention, Nate would have to cross over to the women’s exclusive.

“Although it’s not a basketball shoe, another shoe that I love so much is the Deion Sanders Nike Diamond Turf II. That was the first shoe I ever wore in organized basketball when I was 10 years old. Even though I’m a basketball guy, that’s one of my favorite shoes, period. Deion is one of the reasons why I wear #2 today. I would definitely wear the Diamond Turfs on court.” – Nate Robinson

Why: Wait, football trainers on the court? Yes. Nate would do it. He told us two seasons ago that if he ever played for a team that had a similar color scheme to that seen on a Diamond Turf II, he’d then consider wearing them. This would definitely be one of the surprises of next season, and it’s a near-perfect match to Denver’s alternate ‘Away’ uniforms.

“The Air Jordan 12 is one of the lightest and most comfortable shoes for me. It’s one of my favorites of all time.” – Nate Robinson

Why: In addition to the “Playoff” 13s, the two other consistent wears for Nate this past season were the Air Jordan 12 White/Red and the Air Jordan 12 “Rising Sun.” Therefore, all signs point to Nate finding another colorway of the 12, such as the Nubuck pair, to rock this season. Contacting Carmelo Anthony for an exclusive would be awesome, too.

“I’m very lightweight superstitious, so I try to play in some of the lightest shoes all the time.” – Nate Robinson

Why: If Nate really, we mean really, wants to go with a lightweight shoe, look no further than the lightest Air Jordan ever created. Although a stretch in regards to matching the Nuggets uniforms, he can get away with the “Blue Camo” version just like UNC got away with them. If it’s too much of a problem, he can always hit up his former teammate for postseason player exclusives.

“The patent leather Jordans started it all for me. I got my first pair when I was in 8th grade. Everyone on my basketball team wanted those shoes at the time. I went home and told my mom that I had to get those. So, all the money that my mom gave me throughout the week, I would save, save and save. I think I saved like $90, and then she paid the rest of it so I could get them.” – Nate Robinson

Why: Why not? Over the past few years, we’ve consistently seen Space Jams, Playoffs, Cool Greys and Concords from just about everybody. A wear of the Columbia 11s or the University Blue low tops would undoubtedly turn heads if Nate wore one of these at the Pepsi Center – either these or a Mache Custom he probably already has in the works.

“I’m also a big fan of the Barkleys. The Barkley line is probably my second favorite next to Jordans. I love the Barkleys because they’re high, sturdy and have good ankle support. They just look nice and feel good. I’ve been wearing Barkleys consistently since college.” – Nate Robinson

Why: Back when Nate Robinson won the 2009 Kicks On Court Champion, he wore Barkleys on the regular (the Nike Air Max2 CB 94 to be exact). Adding a little variety to his lineup this year won’t hurt at all, and he could definitely get away with this Barkley Posite Max during ‘Home’ games. Come on, David Stern. Let him wear them.

“I used to go back and check out what shoes Jordan wore in certain games against certain teams for inspiration.” – Nate Robinson

Why: If Nate does as much research as he says he does, then he would know that MJ dropped 50 big points on the Denver Nuggets in 1992 in the Air Jordan 7. Could we see this Air Jordan 7 on Nate’s feet in his return to Chicago’s United Center next season? Hopefully, he’s inspired by that game.

Why: Now, this shoe just flat out makes sense because it matches the Denver Nuggets’ uniforms perfectly. Nate recently wore these while throwing the ceremonial first pitch for the Seattle Mariners. Was he foreshadowing something here? Probably not – but it would be great to see these on court.

Click the next page to see a shoe that makes sense for Nate Robinson but is HIGHLY unlikely.

Why: By now, you know that Nate Robinson will wear pretty much anything on court, hence, the Nike MAG is not off limits. What could possibly top the Yeezy 2s? Other than wearing a different pair of Yeezys each quarter, just two minutes in the MAG (which works color-wise) would set the Kicks On Court world on fire. Just a thought.

Yesterday, news surfaced of Nate Robinson agreeing to a deal with the Denver Nuggets.
