Sneaker shop month continues this July on My 5, showcasing store managers and owners from the best boutiques in the business. Today, we highlight our own Greg Grovey, store manager of the Snkrs Day Shop in Austin, TX.

Since coming on to Snkrs Day as intern in 2008, the Huston-Tillotson graduate has worn many hats, contributing as a writer for various columns on NiceKicks.com, offering marketing insight for the website and now greeting customers with his trademark smile as store manager of the Snkrs Day Shop. He’s also worn many shoes. While Greg’s collection spans everything from vintage Air Maxes to OG Air Jordans, he’s currently embarking on his 100 Days of Air Force 1s journey (check it out on Instagram). In celebration of sneaker shop month and Greg’s wedding this weekend, Greg delivers one of the realest My 5s yet, showcasing his shoe selection over the recent five day span.

Greg Grovey II: “A lot of people like the ‘Cocoa Snakes’ from ’01, but I like these a little better because they have more black in them which makes the snakeskin stand out more. I’m a big eBay shopper when it comes to older Forces, you can really catch some steals. This is actually the first time I’ve worn them.”

Greg Grovey II: “The materials are crazy. They’ve got a glow-in-the-dark outsole, a lot of 3M and just a pretty cool design. I think the ‘Doernbecher’ re-releases are a good opportunity for those that didn’t get a chance to grab them for retail. I actually don’t mind re-releases at all, I wish they’d re-release more Air Force 1s like these.”

Greg Grovey II: “My wedding day! I actually got a pair of iD Forces made that I’m going to wear in the wedding. They’re all-black shiny patent leather with an all-black midsole and outsole. There’s white stitching on the midsole and my wedding date on the heel tabs. Usually with tuxedos you wear patent leather shoes anyway, so this is just my take on patent leather Forces and it works out. I actually made them in the beginning of June. Once the option became available I had to get it. I felt like it was destiny.”

Greg Grovey II: “They’re all-white with a milky outsole. It’s pretty dope, because they’re all-white which is a classic colorway, but they have a little twist with the Vac Tech technology. Including all variations, I’ve probably gone through a good 25 pairs of white-on-white Air Force 1s in my life.”

Greg Grovey II: “I love those. I’ve been waiting to wear them again. When I got them a few years back, I was pretty excited– I couldn’t wait to put them on. My second time wearing them was to the Snkrs Day Shop grand opening. This will be my third time.”

Nike Air Force 1 Low “Un-Cocoa Snake”
