Welcome to another edition of The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly. This week, we cover many spectrums of the sneaker culture. Check to see what sneakers made the respective categories and sound off below if you agree or disagree.

The Good: Creative Customs

Taking a popular Jordan motif and placing it on a pair of Vans may seem like a misstep, but JP proves that logic wrong. It’s great to see other sneakers besides Nike silhouettes used as a canvas for custom sneakers. Hopefully we can see more original designs/ideas in the near future.

Vans Low Pro Era “True Blue” Custom

Yes, New York is the most populous city in the U.S., and the Knicks are actually good this season, but is there too much of a New York vibe in sneakers? Brands should release city exclusives and use other great places as influences. For example, Reebok could make a Baton Rouge Shaq Attaq or Jordan Brand could make a Hillcrest Air Jordan XX8 for Ray Allen.

Reebok Pump Twilight Zone “New York”

If this Air Jordan 5’s black upper was leather instead of suede, would it be more appealing? Everyone loves the “Grapes,” but time will tell if a black rendition was warranted or simply overkill.

The Bad: Too Much New York?

The Ugly: Black Grapes?
