International Party DJ and street photographer?M.A.F.I.A. is well known for her affinity for sneakers. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, M.A.F.I.A.’s style is heavily influenced by the hip hop and street cultures, but the Aussie way of life also plays a role in her fashion decisions. Longevity breeds change, especially in terms of style. When describing her style and what goes into a daily outfit, M.A.F.I.A. says:

“My style has evolved so much over the years before settling on a more refined look that focuses on comfort without compromising pizzazz. As a traveling DJ, it?s a must that I have a good rotation of proddy that translates from airports to the clubs. I?m inspired heavily by Japan and its culture, but I also make it a point to include as many local brands into my daily get up as possible.

My look for this season is a combination of high end branding and street wear madness. It?s a must to always have a jacket or scarf on hand in Melbourne. The weather is notorious for giving you four seasons in one day. Even though we are in the throes of summer, our days will range from cold and windy to scorching hot, so you have to be prepared.”

For the first installment of Decked Out Females, we asked M.A.F.I.A. to breakdown what one of her multi-brand, street wear/high fashion hybrid outfits would consist of. She presented us with the following:

Supreme x Comme Des Garcons Tee
“The Supreme x Comme Des Garcons tee is a contender for first place on the t-shirt mantel. I?ve whittled my tee collection down to a respectable 150 from around 700, but this bad boy is definitely one I will never part with. I?ve rocked it plenty this year, as it can generally pass for a casual or dressed up look. This is a great compromise for someone who doesn’t really enjoy formal wear too much.”

Ksubi Full Eye Denim Vest

“Ksubi has been killing it in Oz (nickname for Australia) and abroad, especially with their denim. I?m a big fan of denim vests, especially with hoods, and this Full Eye Vest has a dope face warmer strap in case you leave your scarf at home. I rock it most days over a tee or shirt and bow tie for the classier corporate DJ events.”

Perks and Mini Duplo Pant
“Perks And Mini, aka P.A.M., is an underground Australian brand doing big things with their avant-garde designs and crazy take on streetwear fashion. Their Duplo Pants are so ill with the drop crotch waist and elastic cuffed ankles. They?re perfect for showing off the heat on your feet. I’ve copped them in three colors to mix and match with most of my outfits. They?re perfect for travel, too!”

Visvim FBT
“After a five year stint working at Sneaker Freaker Magazine (before retiring to be a full-time DJ), it?s safe to say I?ve accumulated a ridiculous amount of kicks. Of course, like most sneaker heads I wear but a small rotation. Mostly Air Jordan IVs, which are my all time favorite silhouette, but Visvim?s FBT kicks are a very close 2nd with their all-over buttery suede goodness and suave steez.”

M.A.F.I.A.’s Sneaker Rotation

Kith NYC x Stamp’d LA “Just Dope” Leather Brim Hat
“Ronnie Fieg has continually been someone I?ve looked up to and been inspired by, especially after a chance meeting in Atlanta at Sneaker Friends in 2010. I was super stoked he joined forces with Chris Stamp?d from Stamp?d LA for their ?JUST DOPE? collection. The snapbacks are impeccably designed, and this murdered out leather brimmed cap has copped a serious work out on my dome. It?s simple yet powerful.”

Comme Des Garcon x Where’s Wally Scarf
Comme Des Garcons Championship Ring
“Last year I dropped serious coin while on a trip to Japan thanks to the many Comme Des Garcons stores dotted around the city. Also, thanks to Dover Street Market in Ginza I walked away with the CDG x Where?s Wally scarf and the flyest CDG Championship Ring I?d ever seen. The scarf is a major head turner, and could double as a tablecloth, blanket or magic trick prop. Only in Japan!”

Yo! MAFIA G-Shock Watch
“As Australia?s G-Shock Ambassador, I was super fortunate to score my very own G-Shock. It was a limited edition timepiece to celebrate the Shock The World Australia shows back in 2010. I was given the opportunity to design my own G-Shock for myself and 10 lucky family and friends. Unfortunately, most were stolen at the event, so I ended up with 4 watches in total. It?s the one brand I’ve rocked since I was 15 (that?s nearly 25 years folks!) so I couldn’t be more honored to have my very own YO! MAFIA G-Shock.”

Jeremy Scott x Linda Farrow Smiley Teashades
“To compliment the craziness of the CDG Championship Ring, the Jeremy Scott x Linda Farrow flip glasses cause accidents with their impractical madness. A great hangover hider, just flip these bad boys down to shut off the noise, or flip them open to enjoy the sunshine, yo!”

Comme Des Garcons Wallet
“Lastly it?s hella important in my business to always have business cards and stickers ready. So, the CDG wallet and business card slider are essentials to my everyday outfits. They both travel with me all over the globe. While I keep most of my clothing minimal these days, the accessories take all the attention. The brighter and more ?in yo? face?, the better ? that?s the motto!” Be sure to check out M.A.F.I.A. on her website, and follow her on Twitter to keep up with the latest information.
