To say Big K.R.I.T. came up in 2012 would be accurate. Though killing it on the underground for the better part of three summers, the M-I-crooked letter representer has brought his region and sound to the forefront this year with a Def Jam debut and festival flights. His sneaker game has seen a similar ascent, as documented in this sequel installment of My 5.

Big K.R.I.T.: “I?m not the type of person that buys shoes and puts them up; I buy them to perform in. I performed in the ‘DMP’ 6s at Pitchfork Festival and I stage dived in them to ?I Got This?. I was really just going to jump into the crowd, but they wouldn?t let me over and it turned into crowdsurfing. I kept rapping! I was a little nervous but the fans held me down. I was just fist pumping and doing the hook.”

Big K.R.I.T.: “I still love my ‘Space Jams’. As far as basketball shoes for performing, the ankle support is off the chain and they?re comfortable on stage. I wear them with some black G-Star denim, a black polo tee, and an all-black USA Nike letterman jacket.”

Big K.R.I.T.: “I still keep these with the camo pants or dark denim. Black jeans are totally out of the question, but if I can get a vintage Polo sweater or a nice button up I?ll dress them up a bit.”

Big K.R.I.T.: “I was in Charlotte when I got those. It?s just a clean shoe and I?m big on all black kicks when I?m on stage. They?re mad comfortable. I?d prefer to wear the ?Playoff? 11s, but they get to squeaking and the patent leather shine goes away.”

Big K.R.I.T.: “I?m on pair number two now. Last year when I was performing 4Eva and A Day they got scuffed to the point of no return. I ended up copping some more and they?ve turned into my everyday shoe.”

Air Jordan 6 “DMP”

image by Leigh Ann Hines via Pitchfork
