To coincide with the release of the “Liverpool” Nike LeBron 9 Low, Snkrs Day takes a look at the many sneakers that are inspired by soccer clubs, soccer icons and famous soccer tournaments. It?s easy for a basketball sneaker to crossover into casual wear, but soccer’s transition suffers due to changes in surface; yet, in this feature, we bring you a list of sneakers inspired by the aforementioned pillars of soccer.

We?ll start this off with the most recent release, the ?Liverpool? Nike LeBron 9 Low. When this sneaker first surfaced on the web, it was decorated from toe to heel in all kinds of Premier League branding. Nike wanted to pay homage to Liverpool, a football club LeBron James has ownership stake in. Yet, after much backlash (due to having the wrong trophy on the sole), the sneaker released this week without the branding but still stayed true to the colors. One of the greatest players to wear the royal and yellow of Brazil, Ronaldinho got his own timeless sneaker in the form of the Air Force 1. Dressed in a blue patent leather base and a green, translucent sole, this special Air Force 1 features Brazilian soccer branding on the toe box and heel of the shoe. Back in 2009, when Kevin Garnett was still with adidas, the brand with three stripes decided to make a commemorative pack, highlighting the Chelsea FC U.S. Tour. Including branding of ?The Blues,? this shoe has a predominantly suede construction with yellow accents. Fortunately for Celtics fans, this was exclusively available at Boston boutique Bodega. Kobe Bryant loves Barcelona, so why not make two pairs that pays homage to his favorite football club? Painted with the home and away styles of FC Barcelona’s uniforms, the Kobe VII is the second signature model Nike and Kobe used to honor the Spanish club. Prior to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Nike released a series of Air Force 1s decorated in participating countries’ colors. These countries included Mexico, Brazil, USA, Portugal, South Korea, and The Netherlands. Which was your favorite? Adidas loves soccer, mainly in part to its German roots. A few years ago, adidas came out with a Samba collection that was branded with football clubs throughout the Champions League. A few of the teams were Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Chelsea, Bundesliga giant Bayern-Munich, Serie A AC Milan, and La Liga favorite Real Madrid.

Before there was VII, there was the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ?Barcelona? Pack. The first Kobe signature sneakers to feature the Spanish Club became the most sought after release of Kobe’s sixth signature sneaker. One was dressed in the classic royal, red, and yellow scheme, while the other was decorated in the alternate infrared and black color blocking. While the other soccer entities on this list were inspired sneakers, soccer sensation Christian Ronaldo inspired this entire collection. Ronaldo, one of the greatest players to grace the field, inspired the Nike CR7 Collection which included tennis shoes, cleats, and casual wear. That?s not bad considering he?s one of the most recognizable figures in the world?s most popular sport.

Part of the Nike 1World series, the Nike Air Force 1 ?Rio Ferdinand? was designed with the Manchester United Midfielder in mind. Draped in an all-white base and an icy sole, the iconic sneaker also had the English player?s number branded on the heel. To add essence to the sneaker, there is an inspirational quote on the insole. Before Ronaldinho, there was Ronaldo, another Brazilian soccer superstar that led Brazil to World Cup Finals in France ?98 and Korea/Japan 2002. The Nike Dunk Low wasn?t inspired by Ronaldo per say, but his football boot instead. Featuring a grey base with royal and gold overlays, this was a well sought-after sneaker for any fan of Brazil and/or the sport. Capitalizing on the first World Cup on African soil in 2010, Nike released the Nike Air Max Light ?World Cup? Collection. It doesn’t feature any African nations, but it is filled with color schemes of some the favorites going into the contest. Countries include The Netherlands, Brazil, USA, and Portugal.

At one point, David Beckham was the most popular athlete in the world – the English superstar had ladies after him, a movie that incorporated his ?bending? kick -? and adidas capitalized on it. The David Beckham x adidas collection is still going strong, featuring items from casual wear to sneakers to accessories. Some of the more notable sneakers are the ZX 800 and the Forest Hills Mid.

Nike had another high-profile release set up for the World Cup in 2010. The Nike Blazer iD ?World Cup? collection, designed by world-renowned artists such as James Jarvis, Mr. Cartoon and Kronk, included six countries that were represented in the once-every-four-year contest. This series was limited to 500 pairs total, and they represented countries such as South Africa, England, France, Netherlands, and USA.

In addition to the previously mentioned “World Cup Artist” Blazer series, Nike unleashed a 2010 World Cup inspired collection of the Nike Dunk Hi AC. Dressed in an all canvas upper, these Dunks were inspired by Brazil, Netherlands and France.

[618
1225462,1225736,1203743

2":"type-post

Nike LeBron 9 Low “Liverpool
