In life there?s a name you?re given and in streetball there?s a name you earn. Grayson Boucher, The Professor to his peers, went from student to teacher in 2003, heading the AND1 movement as a literal walk on. Now lecturing worldwide for FOX Sports Ball Up Streetball, we caught up with the blacktop scholar to talk kicks. Check out his all-time favorites in this installment of My 5.

The Professor: ?I believe I was in sixth grade and my parents had bought them for me as a Christmas present. I remember getting those, because when I got them I had this mini hoop in my house and I played on that for like five or six hours the same day I got them.?

The Professor: ?I think I was in JUCO when I first rocked these. I forgot my sneakers when I rolled up to open gym and somebody lent me their Pro Models. I tried them on, I hooped in them, and it was probably the most comfortable basketball shoe I?d ever worn. When I talk to other people about the Pro Models they say the same thing too. The comfort level was crazy and the traction on the bottom was amazing.?

The Professor: ?You know what?s crazy? I broke my foot in 2006 and then in 2007 I had to wear only comfortable shoes with Air to get support. I got my Air Max 90s around that time and have been wearing them ever since. I like the White/Grey-Blue makeup, but I?ve also got a Black/White pair I like a lot.?

The Professor: ?I started to love this shoe when I was watching the movie Soul in the Hole back in high school. It?s a dope basketball documentary about these hoopers from New York and this streetball legend named Booger was rocking these 3s throughout the whole movie. When they retroed I got a pair.?

The Professor: ?These were sick to me because when AND1 first came out, I?m talking prior to the tour, the Tai Chi was the shoe you?d buy to get the mixtape on VHS. I just liked hooping in them because they were so light. At the time, AND1 was one of the only companies that were really focusing on making footwear really light for their players. I just thought that was dope, I really liked the look of them, and I fell in love with them early. Honestly, looking back now that I?m older and have a bigger perspective I see what an awesome movement it was. At the time of the tour I was only 18 years old. I was a part of that movement but I didn?t actually realize how big it was. Come to later think of it, it was dope; it was a heavy movement. At one point, 75 to 85% of the league was wearing AND1. Not saying that they were all endorsers, but a lot of people just wanted to get the gear because they were fans of the streetball stuff. Looking back, that was awesome.?

Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”
