Nike initiated its second ever World Basketball Festival last night at the renowned Barry Farms Recreation Center (aka “The Gates”) in Washington D.C. The Snkrs Day staff was on hand to witness the action inside the “The Gates,” which included a highly competitive game between the Goodman League All-Stars and the Team NIKE select roster from New York City. Former Cincinnati standout Kenny Satterfield and “Too Hard to Guard” provided strong guard play for Team NIKE, however, the contributions of “Jamaican Rob”, “The Destroyer” (aka “Baby Shack” of the AND1 Mixtape Tour), former USF player Chris Howard and former Maryland Terrapin James Gist were just too much for the select team from NYC. The Goodman team also had support from the legendary John Thompson Jr., James Harden and Kevin Durant, who all made surprise showings at the game and sat on Goodman’s bench throughout the majority of the matchup. As for footwear, Nike laced the majority of the players on both teams in the recently released “Liquid Lime” Lunar Hyperdunk, with the exception of “The Destroyer” who sported the Nike Dominate XD.

Not only was the intense, trash talk-filled game intriguing, but being engulfed in the sport of basketball and D.C. as a culture at the standing room-only rec center was captivating. That said, stay tuned to Snkrs Day for a daily update of the happenings at the World Basketball Festival in D.C. over the next few days.

2012 World Basketball Festival in Washington D.C.
The Goodman League at Barry Farms in Washington D.C.
The newly refurbished court at Barry Farms by Nike
Team NIKE getting prepared for battle
The Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime” was the weapon of choice for the majority of the players
Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
Kevin Durant made an appearance at Barry Farms midway through the second quarter

Former Cincy standout Kenny Satterfield rocking the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
“Too Hard to Guard” sporting the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
“Jamaican Rob” laced up in the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
Former Maryland Terrapin James Gist dunking in the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
“The Destroyer” (aka “Baby Shack” of the AND1 Mixtape Tour) wearing the Nike Dominate XD
Former South Florida standout Chris Howard handling the ball in the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk “Liquid Lime”
