Gilbert Arenas laced up in Dolce & Gabbana sneakers during the 2010-2011 NBA season

Will somebody please surprise us like Gilbert Arenas did with the Dolce & Gabbana shoes last season? Who does that? Maybe Arenas is the only person that would ever consider wearing something like that on the court, but do know that the Element of Surprise earns a load of points from the Snkrs Day staff. With limited playing time this season, Arenas still pulled his wild card out by wearing sneakers such as the “Lightning” 4s and the “Bin 23” Air Jordan 7 during the NBA Playoffs.

Gilbert Arenas spotted in the "Lightning" 4s during the 2012 NBA Playoffs

Delonte West joined in on the fun by taking to the court in the “Galaxy” Foams on a random South Beach night; something he stated was “strictly for the DMV area.” Surprise, surprise.

Delonte West returned from a mid-season injury in the "Galaxy" Foams

“Dancing in Debuts”

Nick Young debuted the "Metallic Red" Foams before they released to the public earlier this season

To deadstock means to lose in our Kicks On Court column. Wear what you buy (or what you’re given in this sense), and wear it as quick as you can. Everybody pays attention to the player/person that wears a highly-anticipated shoe before everybody else, especially if the debut takes place well before the actual, general release. The “Metallic Red” Foam was one of the most anticipated shoes of the year, and Nick Young’s debut in these served as one of the biggest statements this season.

In the same manner, Reggie Williams on-court wear of the “Galaxy” KD IVs before Durant had a chance to wear them on court, was just as big. Who is Reggie Williams? Now, you know.

Reggie Williams debuted the "Galaxy" KD IVs

“A Crop of Kicks”

Nate Robinson defending in the Nike Air Max2 CB 94 in all black

It’s called Kicks On Court – not adidas On Court, or Nike On Court, or Jordans On Court. Therefore, a variety of sneakers is necessary. If you’re a brand member, that’s not an excuse either. For example, a Nike brand member can rock current stuff, like the Nike LeBrons, Nike Kobes, and/or Nike Durants. You could also ride with the retro shoes by lacing up Nike Pennys, Nike Kidds and/or Nike Barkleys like Nate Robinson pictured above. Variety plays a big part in this decision.

“We Are Not The Same” (iDs/PEs)

Paul George spotted in iD Kobe VIIs during the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

You have to stand out, and the best way a player can do that is to wear a shoe no one else has. Player exclusives and 1-of-1 creations are the topic of discussion when it comes to the uniqueness of the Kicks On Court column. Paul George, the biggest player in this category, faithfully wore Kobe VII iDs for a long stretch of games this season, including the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest and the first round of the NBA Playoffs. A couple of them, pictured above and below, feature Pacers color schemes in gradient and two-tone form.

Paul George shows one of his iD Kobe VIIs via Instagram

Another notable is J.R. Smith’s iD Huarache 2K4. We only show you one here, but if you look through pages and pages of our Kicks On Court column, you’ll see that Mr. J.R. hit the MSG court in an abundance of them throughout the second half of the year.

J.R. “Closet Appeal”

Monta Ellis brought the Black/Red Air Jordan 13 back to the hardwood

Closet Appeal undoubtedly brings the most excitement to the Kicks On Court column. Why? We know the respective brands send players a ton of player exclusives, iDs and retros throughout the season, but when the athletes bring out shoes from years back, that garners quite a buzz. Monta Ellis has been with AND1 for the majority of his career, but you obviously know which shoes he’s been collecting over the years thanks to on-court showings of the Black/Red Air Jordan 13s and the “Playoff” 11s this season.

Monta Ellis passing the ball in the "Playoff" Air Jordan 11s

If this category means the most you, Monta Ellis definitely has the nod. Wait, a minute – didn’t Nick Young bring the “First Game” Air Zoom Generations, the “Dark Neon Royal” Foams, the “Chamber of Fear” LeBron IIs and the Nike Air Penny IVs to the court in a total of two playoff series? That’s what you call Closet Appeal. Also, a bravo should be given to Jordan Crawford for bringing red 5s out consistently.

Jordan Crawford probing the defense in the red "Toro Bravo" Air Jordan 5

[polldaddy poll=6341947]
