This week, you&#8217;ve traveled back in time with him for a childhood sneaker memory and heard his plans to pitch a possible &#8220;Kryptonate&#8221; Foamposite, yet, our recent conversation with him reveals much more. Personally, what is your favorite shoe that you&#8217;ve worn on court?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: I&#8217;ve worn so many shoes, but one of my favorite shoes that I have worn on court is the &#8220;Birthday Bundle&#8221; LeBron IVs when I was with the Knicks. Although I&#8217;m a big Jordan guy, I didn&#8217;t wear a lot of Jordans in New York like my former teammate Quentin Richardson did, but I remember wearing those LeBrons. I wore those against Orlando one game, and I scored like 22 points in the 4th quarter on those guys. I wore those LeBrons with the orange shin pads I usually wear and the orange sleeve. I definitely remember that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: Wearing the ?Kryptonate? Foamposite Lites in the 2009 Sprite Dunk Contest was one of, if not the biggest <em>Kicks On Court<\/em> moment within the past five years. Will we see more ?Kryptonate? shoes in the future or was that just a one-time thing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Well, the ?Kryptonate? thing was perfect, and it made sense because it was the Dunk Contest and I was going against Dwight Howard who has the whole Superman theme going. Those shoes are so awesome, man ? defeating Superman and the Kryptonite green was great. Those are pretty sweet. Right now, I?m working on a deal that I?m going to talk to Nike about. I have one of the sickest ideas. I want to see a special edition ?Kryptonate? Foamposite One. I want to pitch this to Nike. I want them to come out with that ?Kryptonate? colorway on the Foamposite One. They need to make them in that color because Penny was one of my favorite players growing up next to Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. I?m a big Penny fan, and I love when Nike recreates those old classics, like the Foamposite One, in new colorways. I?m going to pitch that to Nike real soon.?<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216780\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216780\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216780\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nate Robinson in the &quot;Kryptonate&quot; Foamposite Lite during the 2009 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: The Snkrs Day staff consistently compiles list of memorable shot\/move\/crossover and kicks combinations from past and present, and your name is always brought up. Do you remember some of the shoes you wore during your special moments as an NBA player?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Oh, most definitely. I had on the Nike Air Force 25 when I blocked Yao Ming. I remember those because I had a blue and orange pair that featured my face on it, but the NBA wouldn&#8217;t let me wear those. I had an all-white pair on when I blocked Yao though. When I caught Reggie Jackson slipping this season, I think I had on the &#8220;Playoff&#8221; 13s, which is one of my favorite Jordans. When I broke Steve Blake at the top of the key, I had on the Kobe IIIs, the ones he wore before switching to low-tops. Oh, and when I did the put-back dunk in college, I wore the all-black Air Max2 CB &#8217;94s.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2QjBqowmn_Y\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: You wear an extremely, wide variety of shoes on the court. What is your favorite basketball signature line?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Jordans are #1 for sure, but growing up, I had all of the Iversons and all of the Pennys too. I am a real big Penny fan. I had every Penny shoe that came out &#8211; even the original Flights. I love the Scottie Pippens. I&#8217;m also a big fan of the Barkleys. The Barkley line is probably my second favorite next to Jordans. I love the Barkleys because they&#8217;re high, sturdy and have good ankle support. They just look nice and feel good.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216792\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216792\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216792\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nate Robinson wearing the Nike Air Max2 CB 94 in the 2012 NBA Finals<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: We&#8217;ve seen you wear Barkleys since your rookie season. Is the Nike Air Max2 CB 94 your go-to sneaker? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Yeah, I&#8217;ve been wearing Barkleys consistently since college. I even wore them in high school once during the summer. I think they messed them up when they made the Air Max Barkley version. On the regular Barkleys, the shoestrings never came untied because they had locks on the sides of the shoe all the way up the collar. The new versions don&#8217;t have those, and it&#8217;s not the same. That made me not wear them this season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: You also played football in college. Is there any non-basketball signature sneakers that intrigue you?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Although it&#8217;s not a basketball shoe, another shoe that I love so much is the Deion Sanders Nike Diamond Turf II. That was the first shoe I ever wore in organized basketball when I was 10 years old. They just released them again, and I just got the red ones. Even though I&#8217;m a basketball guy, that&#8217;s one of my favorite shoes, period. Deion is one of the reasons why I wear #2 today.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216793\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216793\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216793\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nike Air Diamond Turf II<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: Would you wear the Diamond Turf IIs on court today?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: I would definitely wear the Diamond Turfs on court. If Nike came out with a yellow and blue pair during this past season, I would&#8217;ve definitely worn them with my Warriors jersey. I really would have. Hell yeah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: For one half of this season, you played alongside one of the hottest Kicks On Court nominees in Monta Ellis. Was there any jockeying for position or competition between you two in regards to bringing the best kicks to the court this season?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: That man was buying Jordans after Jordans. It&#8217;s like he was trying to buy as many Jordans as he could. He bought so many. He had been with AND1 so many years, and he probably couldn&#8217;t wear the shoes he really wanted to because of his deal. That&#8217;s the same with Gilbert Arenas. He was with adidas for so many years, but he had so many Jordans that he saved. Gilbert has worn a couple pair of Js that made me say, &#8216;Dude, where did you find those, man?&#8217; I think he wore a pair of Pennys that caught my attention as well. He had the &#8220;Concord&#8221; 11s on when he played against us earlier this year. But with me and Monta, we tried to bring out shoes early before they release as little surprises here and there. We try to stay on top of our game.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216782\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216782\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216782\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nate Robinson wearing the &quot;Playoff&quot; Air Jordan 13 and Monta Ellis in the Air Jordan 13 Black\/Red<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: Which teammate of yours, past or present, is the biggest sneaker collector?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: It would have to be Eddy Curry, hands down. Eddy has more shoes than anybody I&#8217;ve seen in my life. He has the best shoes. Guys like Ray Allen, Quentin Richardson, Jared Jeffries have a lot of shoes, and they&#8217;re with Jordan Brand, but Eddy has more than all of those guys. As for the guys with the Jordan deals, I&#8217;d say Quentin Richardson, man. He saves every pair of Jordans he gets. He and Ray Allen are tied in my eyes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216794\" style=\"width: 612px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216794\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eddy Curry and Nate Robinson in Nike Air Yeezys<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: Speaking of collecting, what sneaker started it for you?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: Oh, the patent leather Jordans for sure; the black, white and red ones got me over the edge. I got those when I was in 8th grade. Everyone on my basketball team wanted those shoes at the time. I went home and told my mom that I had to get those. So, all the money that my mom gave me throughout the week, I would save, save and save. I think I saved like $90, and then she paid the rest of it so I could get them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: In our new column, <em><strong>What I Wanted &amp; What I Got<\/strong><\/em>, we ask the interviewee to recall a shoe they ended up with (as sort of a consolation prize) instead of the shoe they really wanted at the time. Describe your childhood story in regards to this.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: When the patent leather Jordans first came out, so did the Air Max Penny Is. My dad made me choose one or the other that day. So, it was either the Jordans or the Pennys for me. That was around the time when Nike featured the commercial that had Jordan wearing the ?Concords? and dunking on the tall hoop in the gym, and he was hanging. It?s one of my favorite commercials ever. But I had a lot of Jordans already at the time, so I picked the Penny 1s over the Jordan 11s. I really wanted the Pennys, but looking back, I really, really wanted the Jordans too. Penny was doing his thing at the time though. I loved the Penny commercials with Lil Penny too.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216796\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216796\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Air Jordan 11 &quot;Concord&quot; &amp; Nike Air Max Penny I &quot;Orlando&quot; - What I Wanted &amp; What I Got<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Snkrs Day: What are your thoughts on the sneaker community today?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nate Robinson: I love it because I&#8217;m a real big fan of the Foams and they&#8217;re releasing like crazy right now. I like when Nike brings out those classics in new colorways.
