The Grammy Awards have always been the place where fashion and music collide the hardest. Every year stars hit the red carpet, and fans hit their couches to see what their favorite artists are wearing. There has been a number of artist not only wear exclusive sneakers, but their own designs as well. Some of them have been one time designs, and some artists have been able to turn it into long time partnerships with sneaker makers.

We decided to take a look at the past, and some present Grammy nominees that have also ventured into designing their own kicks. Some of them have even collaborated together in both the sneaker world, and the music world.

De La Soul Nike Dunks

De La Soul collab’ed with Nike on a couple different Dunks, and is rumored to have another collab on the horizon in 2009. It slipped our mind that they finally got some much deserved Grammy love in 2006 for their song with the Gorillaz, Feel Good Inc.

Wu Tang Nike Dunks

Wu Tang Clan’s collab on the Nike Dunk was so long ago, somehow they slipped passed us when originally writing up this list (how, we really don’t know). The shoes go for a few G’s at least, and as for the Grammy’s, Wu Tang has a few “G’s” themselves as well.

Deftones Nike Dunk High

The hard rocking Deftones won a Grammy back in 2001, and their kicks go just as hard. Their collaboration with Nike on the Dunk High is one of the most sought after for Dunk collector’s.?? The Deftones’ bassist Chi Cheng was in an unfortunate car accident towards the end of last year, and remains in a coma. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Chi and the Deftones.

Pharrell Nike Dunk High

Pharrell of the Neptunes and N.E.R.D is pretty much a regular in the Grammy line up with a number of nominations for his production. He has a number of Grammy wins as well. His Nike Dunk High kicks feature the “brain” logo that has become a regular part of his album art, as well as his fashion designs. He has collab’ed with his homie Nigo of Bape fame, and can be spotted in exclusives regularly.

Lupe Fiasco x Greedy Genius

Lupe Fiasco has been nominated a number of times, and won a Grammy for his collaboration with Jill Scott on Daydreamin’. His Greedy Genius collab on the Paratrooper dropped a few months ago, and he has also had his hands on the Converse PRODUCT (RED) project as well, designing some Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

Nelly x Nike, Nelly x Reebok

Nelly dropped the hit single Air Force Ones in 2002, and found himself with a one year deal with Nike in 2003 designing the Air Derrty CB 94. The following year he lined up a deal with Reebok for his own signature line. Nelly has won three Grammy Awards.

Bun B x Greedy Genius

Bun B dropped the full patent leather Greedy Genius Cool Breeze last year, the same year he and Pimp C were nominated for their song Int’l Players Anthem. The Bun B’s came with a “R.I.P Pimp C” hang tag to pay tribute to his long time partner in the Underground Kingz (UGK). UGK was also nominated for their collab song with Jay-Z, Big Pimpin in 2001. Bun is not only a hip hop legend, but is serious about his sneaker game as well.

Questlove x Nike Air Force 1

Questlove x Nike Air Force 1 was the winner of our Kixpy Best Air Force 1 of 2008. Questlove, as a member of The Roots, has been nominated a handful of times, and won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “You Got Me” (featuring Erykah Badu and Eve).

Eminem x Air Jordan 4

Eminem is no stranger to the sneaker game, what other artist has designed a pair of Jordans? Or two? The Air Jordan 4 Eminem version, too many, is one of the dopest kicks of all time. Eminem’s Grammy wins are nearing double digits. No doubt, when his next album drops, he’ll hit that mark.

Mike Shinoda x DC Shoes

Mike Shinoda teamed up with DC Shoes for a couple pairs of the Remix last summer. Shinoda has won multiple Grammy’s with his group Linkin Park, and also for a collab with another artist on our list, Jay-Z, for the song Numb/Encore.

Snoop Dogg x Pony Doggie Biscuitz

We know Snoop’s line with Pony slipped your mind when you started looking at the list, but let’s give the D-O Double G his props. The Doggie Biscuitz collab was limited in numbers, and Pony is about as OG as Snoop himself. We don’t even really need to mention the number of Grammy nominations, even when he tries a new musical style, like this year’s nomination, Sexual Eruption, he still gets nominated.

Nas x Fila Italia High

Though Nas has only for the first time nominated for a Grammy this year, he’s a legend, one of those dudes that is probably your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper. Nas made waves in the sneaker world this year by signing a deal with Fila, and then dropping a trio of his own Fila Italia High tops.?? Nas also got down with 310 Motoring, but someone else on our list has a deeper connection with them.

50 Cent x Reebok

Though we’re not sure how many of our readers would be rocking G-Unit sneakers, we can’t hate, 50 is the man when it comes to marketing his G-Unit goodies. Even if the G-Unit sneakers didn’t work out, there is always that Vitamin Water money. 50 has been nominated for a dozen or so Grammy awards, but has not came out victorious yet.

The Game x 310 Hurricane

The Game has only been nominated once for a Grammy, back in 2006, but has only been in the public eye since about the same time. He teamed up with 310 Brands for some of his own signature kicks, the Hurricane, which due to the timing of it’s release was almost renamed, but instead Game decided to donate portions of every shoe sold to hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Jay-Z x Reebok S.Carter

Jay-Z teamed up with Reebok for his own signature line of sneakers, the S. Carter. His Grammy win list is longer than the S. Carter line lasted, including collabs with a number of other artist on the list, including Bun B, Pharell, and others.

Ludacris x Puma

Ludacris teamed up with Puma for some Clydes back in 2006, then decided to rock them in his film Crash. He has won three Grammy awards.

DJ Clark Kent x Nike 112 Pack

DJ Clark Kent has had a hand in a number of artists careers, including another artist on the list, Jay-Z. Clark did production work for a number of artists including on the Notorious B.I.G’s Life After Death album, which was nominated for a Grammy. Of course Clark’s influence on the sneaker culture is equally impressive with releases such as the 112 Pack.

Missy Elliot x Adidas

Missy Elliot has been nominated, and won, a number of Grammy’s for her own music, as well as production on other artist projects. Her partnership with Adidas started in 2004, and has grown from a sneaker into a full line of sneakers and clothing, including a new line up for Spring 2009.

Kanye West x Louis Vuitton, Kanye West x Nike

No doubt Kanye has to be on our list, his recent work with Louis Vuitton and his upcoming Air Yeezy with Nike are all the buzz right now in the world of sneakers. His musical abilities have garnered him 30+ Grammy nominations, but what really is impressive, is how Louis Vuitton Don</del> Martin Louis unveiled the Nike Air Yeezy to the world at last years Grammy Awards show.

What can we expect from him this year? We’ll have to watch and see on Sunday February 8th at 8pm EST on CBS.

Run DMC x Adidas

Run DMC was the first Rap Act in the history of the Grammy Awards to receive a nomination. They paved the way for all the artists on our list, in both the music industry, and sneaker game. Back in the mid 80’s they teamed up with Adidas to help design the “Cadillac” series, which featured kicks named after the hottest Caddy’s of the day, the Brougham, and the Fleetwood.
