It was specifically inspired by the artistic work of Spanish painter/sculptor Joan Miro who passed a few months before Team USA won the gold medal in the 1984 Olympic games. If you recall, MJ wore the Air Jordan 7 when the Dream Team won the gold medal in Barcelona, Spain, Miro’s hometown.

Released: October 2009

If you’re not familiar with Leroy Smith, just know that he is single-handily responsible for Michael Jordan’s success…so he says. Jordan Brand designed an erratic Air Jordan 1 for the creator of getyourbasketballon.com almost two years ago. Is it one of the better Air Jordan 1s to date? Well, probably not. However, you won’t forget this pinstripe, red/gold accented Air Jordan, which is inspired by Leroy?s peculiar outfits.

Released: November 2010

The Air Jordan Bin 23 Collection has produced some very interesting, high-quality designs, but none have been as boisterous as the Air Jordan 7 Premio. Tribalism and African Art influenced by an “Afropop Worldwide” poster, caught Tinker Hatfield’s eye when initially designing MJ’s seventh signature. Therefore, Jordan Brand took it a step further when creating this pair. Specifically, the jagged, zebra stripe-like heel pattern was taken from a sketch within Tinker?s original mood boards.

Released: November 2008

The aforementioned Air Jordan 4 is not the only Doernbecher design that caught the attention of many. Tony Taylor Jr., a Doernbecher patient who overcame a kidney transplant, got the chance to use his creative juices on the Air Jordan 1 silhouette. It features a blue gradient attribute on the majority of the upper and Tony Taylor’s very own logo, Mr. Boober, on the tongue tag.

Released: February 2011 (eBay auction)

To coincide with the Jordan Brand WINGS for the Future Program, the storied brand connected with world renowned artist Dave White to create a stunning Air Jordan 1 in a patriotic way using a flashy mosaic of an American colors. David White’s style of artistry is ever so present on this design, namely his signature splatter marks, the gold tipped toe box and painted red brushstrokes and stars throughout the base. 23 pairs were auctioned off, and all proceeds went to the WINGS for the Future Program.

Released: N/A

Is the Air Jordan 4 “Doernbecher” the loudest Air Jordan retro you’ve seen?
