When it comes to the writing business Russ Bengtson<\/a> is a boss. Not the kind that wears short sleeve jackets or travels with the E Street Band, but the kind that oversees, interprets, and moves a culture. After blazing a trail at SLAM Magazine that includes the groundbreaking KICKS issue, Russ now serves as the Sneaker Editor at Complex. Perhaps the only thing deeper than his resume is his sneaker collection. Between game worn PEs and unreleased samples, Russ has it all and wears it. For real. While his current rotation is more half pipe than hardwood, it?s still rich in flavor. What?s he wearing these days? Read on to find out.<\/p>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?I bought them new when they dropped. When I first heard about that shoe I was super psyched about the idea of someone else doing the cement Air Jordan 3 print; it hadn?t been done yet. I?ve been wearing them pretty consistently since then. They?ve taken some time off, but they?ve taken a beating. I really wanted the white ones too but that just never happened.? <\/p>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?I?m still unsure how many of these are gonna drop. The Koston itself is such a clean shoe. They did such a great job designing it by keeping it simple but keeping it distinctive at the same time…which I think is a lot harder than it sounds.?<\/p>\n

UNDFTD x Puma Clyde Canvas Black\/Mineral Yellow<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?I?ve been a fan of the Clyde and it’s definitely good to have a pair of canvas shoes to go to during the summer. People in New York are probably a little more likely to know the back-story, but I?m not sure if it still has the same cache.?<\/p>\n

Nike SB Dunk Mid Charcoal\/Tar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?Nike sent them over and it?s always nice to get a fresh pair of Dunks. They?re mostly suede and gum bottom so they?ve got pretty much everything I look for. I usually go towards neutral or black, especially in New York stuff gets dogged so fast. I?m not afraid of bright colors though, I wore those UNDCRWN x adidas T-Mac 5s yesterday.?<\/p>\n

Stash x Packer Shoes x Reebok Pump Graphlite<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?I was fortunate enough to get a pair through Packer. I?ve always been a fan of Stash?s stuff. I have a pair of the Big Windows at home that I haven?t worn out too much. I?ve never owned a pair of Pump Graphlites before, but between the Pump on the tongue and the way the midsole is cut out with the carbon plate they?re a really good design that got looked over by a lot of people. The fact that Packer and Stash brought them back is very cool. They may not be the same grail status as his Air Force 1 or Air Max 95 but they definitely compare.?<\/p>\n

Russ Bengtson:<\/strong> ?It?s a mesh toe tennis shoe. I actually bought a couple of pairs, I don?t usually wear white but it?s kind of like an alternative wear to the Rod Laver. They?re what Pete Sampras wore before he wound up on Nike. He really loved that shoe. It?s a super, solid basic, tennis shoe but far outside the norm. I like trying to mix it up every once and a while. There?s a few places you can still get them online and they?re $45 so you?re pretty much spending Vans money.?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
