For some, low top Jordans are inferior and for others, they’re a must have. Doubters and believers are all entitled to their preference, but there’s no denying some of the classic AJs that have dropped below the ankle. In the spirit of this weekend’s Air Jordan 12 Low “Taxi” re-retro, we recount the best low top Air Jordans. Original Release: 2005<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> What better way to debut the Air Jordan 13 Low model than to grace it with an original color scheme? These were one of two mens colorways that released in April of 2005.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> The long-awaited The Air Jordan II Low made a return in 2004; this time, in low-top fashion. Jordan Brand released this low top colorway first, and though it features a very similar colorway to the original Air Jordan 2, it is slightly different specifically on the piping.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2002<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Sure, we recently witnessed the “Silver Anniversary” Air Jordan 9, but of course that was not the first all-white Air Jordan 9. Jordan Brand unleashed this low top Air Jordan 9 during the summer of 2002 providing the sneaker community with another option beside the all-white Air Force 1.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2007<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> This women’s exclusive is simply a low top version of the 2000-released Air Jordan 5 White\/Silver. Jordan Brand basically used this shoe to kick off 2007 considering it actually released on January 1st.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2005<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> This Air Jordan 13 Low, along with the Air Jordan 13 Low Black\/Varsity Maize, is the original “Thunder\/Lightning” Pack due to the similar colorway seen on the Air Jordan 4\/Air Jordan 5 pack. Both released in May, but this was the more limited colorway of the two as it was only available at urban accounts.<\/p>\n Original Release: 1986<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> The Air Jordan 1 Low White\/Metallic Blue is one of the few low top, original colorways of MJ’s first signature model to ever release. In case you didn’t know, the Air Jordan I Low has still not been retroed in it?s original form. Who else would like to see this shoe return?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Jordan Brand kicked off the summer of 2004 by releasing the first colorway of the Air Jordan XIX Low. It features the ever-so-popular cement print and possesses the Tech Flex netting attribute first seen on the Air Jordan XIX Hi. Definitely, one of the more simpler, sleekest low tops on the list.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Jordan Brand released a number of Air Jordan 2 Retros in 2004, and they saved the low top for last in that year. However, many people quickly took a liking to this shoe with its nubuck upper and red\/silver accents.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2001<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> What’s a summer without a fresh pair of all-whites? During the summer of 2001, Jordan Brand proved that it doesn’t necessarily have to be Air Force 1 every summer. JB released these exclusively online in extremely limited numbers; it is definitely one of the more memorable quickstrikes to date.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2003<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Jordan Brand saw how much people loved the OG “Playoffs” Air Jordan 8 that they decided to drop a low top version of this Black\/True Red-Del Sol shoe 11 years later. Would you rather have a low top or high top formation of this shoe?<\/p>\n Original Release: 2005<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> It is okay to wear a little pink every now and then, right? This particular Air Jordan 13 Low can easily be spotted on both women and men’s feet because the latter gender had no problem with the real pink hints on the tongue when this shoe released. It is arguably one of the better Air Jordan 13 colorway whether it was exclusively made for women or not.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Of course, the “Taxi” Air Jordan 12 is the reason for this extensive low-rider list. Jordan Brand debuted this shoe in 2004, and it was the last Air Jordan 12 release of that year. Although many people overlooked this shoe in 2004 (in hopes of coming across an original pair of “Taxi” Air Jordan 12), this shoe has gained a lot of attention considering its release tomorrow.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2003<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong>The Air Jordan 11 Low IE White\/Cobalt-Light Grey was one of two original Air Jordan 11 IE Low colorways This particular pair was the least popular of the two, yet, it was still in winner thanks to its simple color scheme.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2003<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> As seen in this feature, Air Jordan low tops were a big hit in the early 2000s. This pair, along with the previously-shown Black\/Red Air Jordan 8 Low made, its way to retailers in the summer of 2003. Although they did pretty well, enthusiast were much more eager to get a new pair of original Air Jordan 8s.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2002<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Although the Air Jordan 6 debuted in 1991, we did not witness our first Air Jordan 6 Low until 2002. A few men’s exclusive colorways caught the attention of many, but the “Coral” Air Jordan 6 Low undoubtedly won over both genders. We’re sure Cam’ron would have gladly rocked these had they released during his days in pink.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2003<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> The Air Jordan 11 Low IE did not gain as much interest as the original, patent leather-laced Air Jordan 11 and rightfully so. However, the two original IE colorways, this pair and the previously-seen white pair, were received with open arms.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2005<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Prior to the Air Jordan ?Thunder & Lightning? Pack, Jordan Brand released this Air Jordan 13 Low Black\/Varsity Maize. It is safe to say this color scheme inspired the aforementioned pack and also the recently-seen Jordan Tokyo23 creations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Jordan Brand decided to trim the Air Jordan 12 down by giving it a low-top formation in 2004. This “Obsidian” pair was the first of the two men?s Air Jordan 12 Low colorways to release (the other being the previously-seen “Taxi” Air Jordan 12 Low). This pair was gained more interest than the “Taxi” colorway because it featured a similar color pattern seen on the Air Jordan 12s MJ wore in the 1997 NBA All-Star Game.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2001<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Sure, the original colorways of the Air Jordan 11 Low IE were cool and garnered a lot of interest, but the true<\/em> Air Jordan 11 low-top won over sneaker enthusiasts instantly during the summer of 2001. The “Varsity Red” Air Jordan 11 Low released on the same day as another Air Jordan 11 low top that sits in our top five. It is also the only low top Air Jordan 14 to feature perforated design instead of leather and\/or suede seen on most Air Jordan 14 colorways.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2001<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Obviously, patent leather is not the only material that intrigues sneaker enthusiast on the Air Jordan 11. This shoe slithered its way in and out of stores very quickly. It is now considered one of the best low top Air Jordans, let alone Air Jordans…period.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 1998<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> When the Black\/Chutney Air Jordan 13 Low first released in 1998 it was not a favorable shoe due to the one-of-a-kind colorway it possesses. It is now considered an underrated colorway of MJ’s 13th signature model. This was the last original Air Jordan 13 to release and was the second Air Jordan 13 colorway to be released as a low top.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2001<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> The summer of 2001 was undoubtedly the year of the low top in regards to Air Jordans. In addition to the “Varsity Red” Air Jordan 11 Low we showed you recently, JB flexed its muscles and supplied us with this Air Jordan 11 Low “Columbia Blue”.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Original Release: 2002<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> Jordan Brand unleashed this Black\/Metallic Silver Air Jordan 6 Low on the same day as the Air Jordan 6 White\/University Blue. The only thing ‘night & day’ about these releases were the colorways because both were gladly accepted by Jordan enthusiasts.<\/p>\n Original Release: 2002<\/strong><\/p>\n The Lowdown:<\/strong> If you recall, His Airness debuted the “Lightning” Air Jordan 17 Low in the 2002 NBA All-Star Game.
