In this new series from Snkrs Day we profile great teams in history that also sported great sneakers. We break it down by the kicks on court and who rocked them. We kick off Kickin’ Back with the 2004-2005 University of North Carolina Men’s Basketball team. The Tar Heels boasted a star studded team that won both ACC and NCAA Championship honors.<\/p>\n
The 04-05 North Carolina Tar Heels were known to have a solid rotation on court and on foot. Top notch releases from Jordan Brand and Nike carried Sean May, Raymond Felton, Rashad McCants, Marvin Williams, and a host of other great players during their huge season. Perhaps a gift from MJ, the Air Jordan 10<\/strong> “Ice Blue” was worn spotted on the feet of many Tar Heels during the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Melo’s Denver colors and Jordan Brand ties made his first signature an easy wear in Chapel Hill. The 2004-05 season also coincided with the first retro run of the Air Jordan 13<\/strong>. Sean May?s best sneaker moments may have come from his Air Jordan 18 PEs he wore during his sophomore season. His best on court performances came in the Air Jordan 19 SE<\/strong>.
