Over the years, we have witnessed sneaker series take on inspirations that are beneficial for awareness campaigns. Shoe campaigns such as Nike’s “Think Pink”, Jordan Brand’s “Green Week” and Converse’s ongoing (Product) RED series have undoubtedly caught the eyes of many in a positive way. The latter campaign is showcased today thanks to December 1st being national World AIDS Day.<\/p>\n

The Product (RED) campaign, which was created by DATA chairman Bono and Bobby Shriver, has produced some of the better Converse releases to date. That said, take a look at our AIDS Awareness: The 20 Best Converse (Product) RED Kicks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The ongoing Converse (Product) RED campaign produces some of the most highly-detailed, stylish designs we have seen from the 102-year-old brand. This Chuck Taylor All-Star Ox is no exception. The premium grey nubuck textured provides a nice, subtle look, while red eyelets and a camouflage inner lining, provide eye-catching complimentary attributes.<\/p>\n

Converse Chuck Taylor Hi "Leather Jacket"<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Last year, Converse saved its best release for World AIDS Day. On December 1st, Converse released the highly anticipated “Leather Jacket” Converse Chuck Taylor as part of the ongoing (Product) RED campaign. This shoe retailed for $200 and released in limited quantity only at locations in New York, San Francisco and London. Inspired by a motorcycle jacket, this red leather shoe contains a quilted lining, heavy-duty zips, snaps and a leather rand.<\/p>\n

This Converse Chuck Taylor “Lupe Fiasco” is undoubtedly the most sought-after sneaker in the (Product) RED campaign to date (when we first debuted this shoe on the site, it garnered a whopping 400+ comments).? This shoe was first spotted on Lupe Fiasco’s feet at the Dr. Romanelli x Converse (Product) RED release party. At the time, many thought these Chuck Taylors were exclusive to Lupe; however, a year later, they released in limited quantity.<\/p>\n

While many of the (Prodcut) RED collaborations were executed using the iconic Chuck Taylor, Converse and HUF chose to display their joint effort on the Skidgrip model. The black canvas-textured upper is overlayed with HUF’s ‘H’ logo in a repeated pattern throughout the silhouette.<\/p>\n

Converse Chuck Taylor 100 Supplementaire "Lupe Fiasco"<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In attempt to build on the success of the previously-seen black patent leather “Lupe Fiasco” Converse Chuck Taylor, Converse chose to create another (Product) RED formation that includes the young Chi-town rapper. This pair contains a mainly white cotton-textured base black Times Roman script that is silk-screened throughout the upper. The writings are political opinions from Lupe Fiasco himself.<\/p>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> November 2010<\/p>\n

Cody Hudson’s work with Converse is one of the latest (Product) RED offerings in the ongoing campaign. It is also one of three designs in Converse’s “Paint the Town Red” Collection. The Chicago-based artist applied a rich, lux brown leather upper with a Navy Blue toe cap of the same material. Additional red and blue hints show up in the form of the shoelaces and heel tab. Also, Cody Hudson x Converse branding is spotted on the tongue and collar area in a unique, polygonal shape. This shoe is now available at the Snkrs Day shop among other locations.<\/p>\n

Giovanni Estevez x Converse Chuck Taylor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> September 2010<\/p>\n

New York artist Giovanni Estevez was one of the three artist chosen in Converse’s “Paint the Town Red” Collection as well. His creation, which is one of the newest (Product) RED releases, features an all-black upper. It is accented by a cityscape view that is sewn on the side panels.<\/p>\n

2010’s World AIDS Day release comes in the form of this Damien Hirst x Converse(RED) Chuck Taylor. The English artist applied a vibrant Red canvas base to the Chuck Taylor and added images of colored butterflies throughout the upper. The aforementioned accents are inspired by Hirst’s ?All You Need is Love? painting.<\/p>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> August 2010<\/p>\n

Amsterdam-based artist Parra has created some superb collaborative efforts with a number of brands over the years; yet this Parra-assisted Converse Chuck Taylor may be one of his best to date. Highly-detailed tan suede is offset by a repeating cherry design on the upper. This attribute is a staple in Parra’s work, as it has been seen in his art and his Rockwell clothing company. Earlier this year, this shoe hit the shelves of just 10 stores worldwide including Snkrs Day.<\/p>\n

Dr. Romanelli and Converse have collided on a number of projects over the past couple of years. This “Born in the USA” Chuck Taylor “Cups” Pack stands as one of their more recognizable efforts. The American flag inspired upper features a duck canvas texture and is complimented by a sneaker head’s favorite detail, the gum sole.<\/p>\n

CLOT and Converse chose to act out its (Product) RED design on the Jack Purcell model as opposed to the limitless amount of Chuck Taylors we have witnessed in this campaign. Inspired by CLOT’s “From Dusk till Dawn” collection, this sneaker possesses a rich nubuck texture colored in grey. The complimentary red hints were added to “embody the CLOT movement, and to subtly reference the mission (RED)?.<\/p>\n

Vena Cava x Converse Chuck Taylor Hi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> December 2009<\/p>\n

Vena Cava received the opportunity to work with Converse for its first collaboration ever. This women’s exclusive contains a great deal of Native American detailing throughout the upper. Also, multiple scripts appear throughout the midfoot area.<\/p>\n

United Bamboo x Converse Chuck Taylor <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> November 2009<\/p>\n

Converse worked with New York based fashion brand United Bamboo for its 45th (Product) RED collaborative effort. Founder Thuy Pham drew inspiration from the late French artist Sonia Delaunay and the Orphism art movement, which used vibrant colors and peculiar geometric forms. Pham’s Chuck Taylor contains a quilted canvas upper in a rare circular imprint. The all-white sneaker also features a United Bamboo logo strap near the ankle.<\/p>\n

The Edge x Converse Chuck Taylor Hi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> May 2009<\/p>\n

Converse has a rich history of working with sneaker enthusiasts within the music industry. That said, Edge of U2 collaborated with Converse on this Chuck Taylor for the (Product) RED creation. Its black\/white-red color scheme is contrasted by 100 edged shapes which represent Converse’s 100th Anniversary (2008).<\/p>\n

Dr. Romanelli x Converse Chuck Taylor Hi ?Band Aid? <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> February 2008<\/p>\n

Dr. Romanelli worked with Converse multiple times for the (Product) RED campaign. Yet, this is one of their best creations and may rank as one of the best designs in the campaign thanks to its concept. A laser-etched, band aid shaped design covers the majority of the upper to represent a ‘fix for positive change’.<\/p>\n

Jeff Hamada x Converse Chuck Taylor Hi <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> February 2009<\/p>\n

Artist\/Designer Jeff Hamada was also one of the 100 chosen to participate in Converse’s (Product) RED campaign. His creation possesses an all-over image of 100 hands, which represent the world reaching out to help Africa in their fight against AIDS.<\/p>\n

UNDFTD x Converse Chuck Taylor Hi "Wear a Sock Kid"<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> April 2008<\/p>\n

Worldwide retailer UNDFTD may possess the most unique (Product) RED offering in the campaign. Their design, dubbed the “Wear a Sock Kid” aka “No Raw Dawgs”, encourages wearers to keep a pair of socks on when rocking Snkrs Day. If you recall, UNDFTD spiced their joint effort up by creating a matching t-shirt and Bearbricks.<\/p>\n

Converse Chuck Taylor Hi "This is not a Shoe"<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Date Released:<\/strong> February 2009<\/p>\n

Converse collaborated with 100 artists\/designers for the (Product) RED campaign; however, the storied brand has released self-made creations for this campaign as well. This simple yet stylish makeup contains a black canvas upper with flocked detailing in the form of the ‘This is not a Shoe’ script. To coincide with the campaign, red hints appear on the top laceholders and outsole.<\/p>\n

Fragment Design founder Hiroshi Fujiwara is known for his simple yet elegant designs no matter what brand he’s working with. His theme is seen all over this Chuck Taylor Low, as a simple red canvas texture makes up the upper. Nice detailing on this (Product) RED design include the Fragment Design logo on the heel and red piping on the white, vulcanized rubber sole.<\/p>\n

Punk rock band, The Ramones, were selected as one of the first collaborators in the Converse (Product) RED campaign. This Chuck Taylor owns a pre-distressed canvas upper, a vintage sole, and the Ramones patch with the timeless line ?Hey, Ho, Let?s Go!?<\/p>\n
