Tomorrow, we will witness the third and final installment of the Nike Zoom Huarache Trainer “Superhero” Series in the form of the “Green Hornet”. The series as a whole serves as one of the better Nike releases in a long time. However, there are other comic book character-inspired kicks that rival this series.

To coincide with the release of the “Green Hornet” Nike Zoom Huarache Trainer release, our Snkrs Day staff compiled a list of the best comic book character-inspired kicks ever created. In this list, you will see shoes that represent, Superman, Spider Man, Batman and plenty more. Take a look at our Sneaker Geeks: 17 of the Best Comic Book Character Kicks.

Jordan CP3.II “Hulk”

At first thought, Jordan Brand’s comparison of Chris Paul and The Incredible Hulk may be far-fetched, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Many reports claim that Chris Paul is one of the nicest guys in the NBA; on the contrary, he plays with an edge and such tenacity on the court. Likewise, Bruce Banner is actually a nice guy, but we all know what he can become.

Nike “X-Men Origins” Pack

Wolverine is one of the most recognizable comic book characters, and Nike chose to use the classic, old-fashioned Big Nike for his inspired shoe. It matches his attire to the tee, and adds some claw prints to highlight Wolverine’s main weapon. On the other hand, the “Sabretooth” Air Max 95’s also draws inspiration from the character’s clothing in the comics.

Nike SB Dunk “Iron Man”

We would have loved to see a symbol of Iron Man’s chest plate weapon somewhere on this shoe, but we cannot deny the simple yet stylish construction of this Nike SB Dunk Hi. The all-suede upper is a winner every time and the multiple shades of red with yellow hints makes for one of the best Nike SB releases this year.

PUMA Clyde “Cheech Wizard”

PUMA paid tribute to Vaughn Bode, creator of the Cheech Wizard comic character, with this particular Clyde variation. Cheech Wizard never appeared in a comic book, but was apart of one of the better comic strips. His yellow hat is the focal point of this shoe’s design, as PUMA incorporates the yellow/red color scheme, along with the stars seen on the hat.

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Silver Surfer”

It might seem hard to form a shoe inspired by the Silver Surfer seeing that he is simply a ball of energy covered by the Galactus glaze; however, Nike pulled it off in the form a very nice SB Dunk Low Pro. Besides the blue swoosh and red branding, Nike also added a silhouette of the Silver Surfer’s face on the insole of the shoe.

Nike SB “Superhero/Villain” Pack

The Nike “Superhero/Villain” combines two of the most celebrated comic book characters with a very ferocious antagonist. Spider Man’s sneaker comes in the form of a red/blue Nike SB Dunk Mid, while Batman’s character gets equipped with the same sneaker. Venom’s character, however, gets a high-top Dunk which pairs black suede and premium leather. Did the villain win this time?

Nike “Fantastic Four” Pack

With the emergence of Rajon Rondo, the Boston Celtics now have four All-Stars on their team; however, is there a better quartet than the Fantastic Four? Nike outdid themselves with this pack, as each pair mimics the character’s attire to the tee. In detail, the Air Force 1 features a transparent element in representation of Invisible Woman, while the tough, pebbled leather of the Dunk Hi represents The Thing skin and so on. Is this one of the better Nike packs to date?

adidas TS Supernatural Commander “Magic Beast”

Dwight ‘Superman’ Howard debuted this TS Supernatural Commander “Magic Beast” on Christmas Day against the Celtics. Although the Magic lost the game, Howard caught the attention of many fans with his Superman-esque sneakers. We love the galaxy-like, star-studded upper to coincide with Superman’s attire.

Nike SB Dunk Hi “Hulk”

The second Incredible Hulk-inspired shoes comes in the form of this Nike SB Dunk Hi. It features more of movie-inspired Hulk makeup, yet, Hulk was first spotted as a comic. The long-haired suede upper is reminiscent to the “Skunk” Nike SB Dunk that dropped earlier this year. Which is better: the CP3.II “Hulk” or this Nike SB Dunk “Hulk”?

adidas Forum “Hellboy” Pack

Hellboy may just be a movie character to most of you, but he first appeared as a comic character in 1993. Therefore, adidas used one of its older silhouettes, the Forum, for its Hellboy inspirations. There is only so much you can do with a shoe that pays tribute to an all-red character, right?

Nike Foamposite Lite “Kryptonate”

Many have complained about the watered-down NBA Slam Dunk Contests the past few years, but there is one thing people will not forget about the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Nate Robinson’s “Kryptonate” Nike Foamposite Lites. As a response to Dwight Howard and his Superman cape, Nate Robinson showed up in a green New York Knicks jersey with these eye-popping Foamposite Lites. Superman vs Kryptonate Krpytonite</del>!

Nike Trainer “Transformers” Pack

Megatron, Optimus Prime and StarScream were the chosen inspirations for Nike’s first ever “Transformers” Pack. Nike decided on training sneakers for this triplet of Transformers. Specifically, the Nike Air Trainer III represents Optimus Prime, the Air Trainer Huarache is based off Megatron and the Air Max 90 Boot represents StarScream.

Nike Zoom Huarache Trainer “Superheros” Series

Nike designed this Zoom Huarache Trainer “Superheros” Pack with the play of Larry Fitzgerald in mind. The Green Hornet was known for having superior hand-to-hand combat; therefore, Nike likened Larry Fitzgerald?s ability to rid his defender (using his hands) when getting jammed at the line. Flash was simply one of the fastest living specimens on the planet just as Larry Fitzgerald?s ability to burn his opponents is unworldly. Much like Superman, Larry Fitzgerald possesses unmatched jumping ability and is able to soar over opponents when attempting to attain his goal (touchdown).

New Balance MT580 “Spy vs Spy” Pack

New Balance incorporated nice white/black and black/white color schemes for the “Spy vs Spy” Pack on these MT580s. Not only did the colors coincide with their attire, but we must applaud New Balance for the explosive, dynamite attributes that the characters were often handling in the comics.

Nike SB Dunk Mid “Charlie Brown”

Although Charlie Brown was never in a comic book, he is still a comic character in the best comic strip ever. This Nike SB Dunk Mid “Charlie Brown” may be the best in terms of carrying out a clothing theme. The jean-like, denim texture on the upper matches with Charlie Brown?s shorts. In addition, the design on the heel area is a nice symbol of Mr. Brown’s shirt.

Nike “Transformers II” Pack

Yes, Nike created another Transformers pack; this time, they used basketball sneakers as canvas choices. The Nike Zoom Sharkalaid, the Nike Zoom FP and the Nike Zoom Flight Club represented Soundwave, Bumblebee and Megatron, respectively. Although you may have first recognized these Transformers in Revenge of the Fallen, they were first comic book characters!

Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Dr. Doom”

The “Dr. Doom” Nike Air Foamposite Pro was apart of the Nike “Fantastic Four” Pack; yet, our reasoning for singling it out is because it was the only villain. This particular sneaker was also the rarest of them all, but was it the best? In terms of coinciding with the character, no; but it may be the best silhouette of them all.
