LeBron James and his buddies at Nike Basketball know how to launch a shoe. While groundbreaking technology and can’t miss colorways usually fuel the fever surrounded by each model, the line’s lengthy resume of iconic commercials also adds to the excitement. As King James and the Swoosh kick off the LeBron 11 with the “Training Day” clip, we take a look back at the ad campaigns that boosted each Nike LeBron sneaker. Let us know your favorite in the comment section.

Nike wanted to make sure they got return on their $90 million investment so they ran two ads for the rookie’s first shoe. The first ad, “Pressure,” poked fun at the lofty expectations set on the Chosen One. Bernie Mac and a congregation of NBA legends assisted LeBron on the second ad focusing on his divine court vision. Classic kung-fu flicks inspired the “Chamber of Fear” campaign for the Zoom LeBron II. A series of ads (condensed into one clip above) ran in promotion for the strapped up sig. In addition, Nike ran an interactive video game online where fans that conquered the Chamber of Fear could win a promotional poster and special edition Baller Bands. King James got his Eddie Murphy on depicting all four members of “The LeBrons.” The dysfunctional family featured Wise LeBron, Kid LeBron, Athlete LeBron, and All Business LeBron. A host of quotables carried this comedic campaign. It was a family thing once again on the Zoom LeBron IV. “The LeBrons” returned with another run of hilarious adds backing the Foamposite based LeBron. Going on his fifth year it already felt like LeBron had transformed in front of our eyes. Nike took this to heart as he morphed from child to king in this classic ad spot. The season kicked off with the iconic “Chalk” commercial featuring music from Cornershop and a cameo from D’Wayne Carter himself. Later in the season All Business LeBron made his return putting all the right moves on Nicole Scherzinger. With hopes of a Finals matchup and certainty of an MVP battle, Nike used doll versions of Kobe and LeBron in the long running “MVPuppets” campaign. The “Mystery of the Missing VII” was used to unveil the Flywire and Air Max laden sneaker. Nike and LeBron answered an off-season full of questions with some questions of their own. Would LeBron and his signature line be as revered as it once was? The answer eventually proved to be a resounding “yes.”

Showing no signs of the signature athlete, the Nike LeBron 9 went the digital route and lacked a formal TV commercial. This clip showcases the ninth LeBron sneaker in outer space fashion, almost foreshadowing the “Galaxy” colorway that would follow.

Focused more on promotion than production, this online clip for the Nike LeBron X introduced the latest in line for LeBron, detailing the story the shoes and colorways were intended to tell.

In his quest to be a tri-champion, LeBron James becomes a triathlete in the new commercial for the Nike LeBron 11. Nike has also underscored the power harnessed in King James’ latest signature with the spot seen below.

LeBron James and his buddies at Nike Basketball know how to launch a shoe.
