According to the Toronto Raptors equipment manager Kevin DiPietro, the average NBA player uses about 30 pairs of sneakers in an 82-game season. So, why are Toronto Raptors players Leandro Barbosa and Sonny Weems being starved for shoes?

In shocking news out of Canada, adidas has been unable to supply Toronto Raptors-colored sneakers for two of their endorsed athletes during the 2010 NBA preseason. Leandro Barbosa has been rocking the adidas adiZero Brazil PE that was given to him during the FIBA World Championship games this summer. As for Sonny Weems, he has been wearing a Nike Hyperdunk 2010 TB colorway, although he recently signed with adidas this past summer.

Surprisingly, no one in the Toronto Raptors organization knows what’s going on; therefore, different conclusions have been drawn from this subject matter.

?(Adidas) is just having a little bit of a crisis right now. It?s the first time ever,? said DiPietro. ?I just thank God (Barbosa) had his shoes from Brazil.?

Even the players involved are left in the dark in regards to the sneaker shortage.

?I don?t know what?s going on with adidas. All I know is, they?re late,” said Leandro Barbosa.

Supposedly, adidas sent both players multiple sneaker models, however, neither player was comfortable with any of the sneakers.

If you recall, this is not the first time we have seen something go wrong with basketball sneakers and players. Sometimes, things just don?t go as planned in the world of sports as seen in our When S*hit Happens to Signature Sneakers.

What are your thoughts on the sneaker shortage in Toronto?
