In 2005, Nike and Bathing Ape kicked off a trend that would quickly be overdone by footwear companies – special edition Halloween sneakers. While there have been some greats (Dia de los Muertos Dunks, Frankenstein AF1s, etc.) there have been some disasters in the form of a shoe. To celebrate the day, we decided to compose a list of shoes we would NEVER wear while going out Pumpkin smashing.

Pro-Keds brought out a package of five Halloween edition kicks in for 2006, but these were definitely the worst of the bunch.?? Approximately five months before these dropped, Nike brought out the unforgettable and overly faked Invisible Air Force Ones.?? Nice execution of the theme, but these get the failing grade for lack of originality.

Nike had a decent drop in 2005 with their first Halloween Air Force 1, but their sophomore Halloween shoe needed some tutoring.?? I was never keen on the “Scarface”?? idea of splitting a shoe up the middle.?? Always reminded me of what bootleg Throwback sellers did when they ran out of jerseys to hustle.?? The one benefit to the all patent upper was no matter how many drinks you had, your shoes were somewhat safe.

The “Beetlejuice” Reebok Reverse Jam from this year does a decent job of taking the colors and patterns of Beetlejuice’s fit, but having bugs crawling on the upper of your shoe with what looks like splattered vomit…??? Maybe these and Howard Stern’s sidekick (who share the same name) can have a faceoff for who is uglier.

Props to Adidas for taking somewhat of a different approach to the holiday by doing something for Dia De Los Muertos, but unfortunately for them Nike SB came with a Dunk that put these six feet under.?? The repeating pattern of the face on the upper were more creepy than anything for me.

I am a huge fan of the Adidas KB-8 Crazy 8 and I think that the colors on the shoes are nothing offensive, but the addition of the skulls (yes, all 300 of them) take these overboard.?? If the repeating skull pattern wasnt enough across the upper, Adidas made sure you were aware of it with a stitched skull on the ankle.?? If that wasn’t enough, they took the skull pattern inside in the 2006 classic “repeating pattern” form on the sockliner.?? The true nail in the coffin you might ask??? The $200 price tag.

In 2005, Nike and Bathing Ape kicked off a trend that would quickly be overdone by footwear companies – special…

[2
{"2":"type-post
