(Lead image via TMZ)

It looks like Kyrie Irving‘s partnership with Nike might be officially done as Nike Co-Founder Phil Knight says that the relationship is “likely over.”

Nike suspended Irving last week after he shared a documentary to his Instagram story that expressed anti-semitic viewpoints. The NBA also took action by fining the Brooklyn Nets guard and suspending him for five games without pay by the team.

Although Irving apologized, Knight recognizes that Irving’s actions were unacceptable.

“Kyrie stepped over the line,” Knight told CNBC. “He made some statements that we just can’t abide by, and that’s why we ended the relationship. And, I was fine with that.”

Knight continued to tell CNBC that when signing athletes, Nike doesn’t only consider how good the athlete is, but also the qualities of their character.

When asked about Kyrie’s future with the brand, Knight replied, “I would doubt that we go back. But, I don’t know for sure.”

Nike has not made an official statement releasing Kyrie Irving from his contract with the company just yet, but any updates can be found on our News page.

Follow @NiceKicks on Instagram and Twitter as we continue to update.
