With the arrival of the Air Jordan 1<\/a> in 1984-1985, the brand rolled out a plethora of Air Jordan 1 colorways, including the “Metallic Pack.” While Jordan himself never wore any on-court, the all-white shoes with colorful hits with a metallic finish on the Swoosh caught everyone’s attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the red, green, orange, navy, red, and burgundy colorways within the pack, the Jumpman also delivered a purple option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Grape” legacy is a staple for Jordan Brand. But the purple hue is just as important, if not more, for Gatorade \u2014 the iconic sports drink brand. The collaborative Gatorade x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Grape”<\/strong> mixed both brands and paid tribute to the partnership’s longstanding roots going back to 1991 as Michael Jordan starred for a Gatorade campaign and soon became a face for the brand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The monochromatic build of the shoe made the purple pop with Gatorade’s bolt logo on the heel counter. Additionally, co-branded insoles and a translucent outsole added the right amount of flavor to the collab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the years have gone by, it’s still early to say whether the “Iron Purple” Air Jordan 2 was a hit or a miss. But its role in redefining retro can’t be overlooked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Travis Scott<\/a> and Jordan Brand relationship has delivered a multitude of neck-breaking colorways through the collaborative releases. Perhaps some of the most coveted to date are the all-purple suede Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4<\/a>s \u2014 reserved exclusively for those within La Flame’s inner circle. The rare AJ4 has two variations: one is built with a white midsole and black mudguard while the other is designed with a black midsole and dark grey mudguard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For one pair, the colorway’s Cactus Jack branding pops off in a vibrant red with black accents alongside it. The other one is more low-key with its matching black details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though it’s not likely we ever see either TS x AJ4 F&F release, all we can do is hope. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, the Air Jordan 4 “Raptors”<\/strong> released with its black suede upper and purple with university red details. A year later, a PE-like colorway released with Drake’s signature found under the Jumpman tongue tag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether Drake’s version or the GR, the Air Jordan 4 “Raptors”<\/strong> is ideal for any OVO or Raptor fan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the purple hue was found on the tongue, Jumpman heel logo, and within the Air unit for a modern take on the “Metallic” series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan Brand continued its partnership with Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> with an entire collection dedicated to “Bordeaux” \u2014 tying the French’s love for wine with a staple colorway within the Air Jordan line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PSG x AJ4 was designed with a white leather base accompanied by Bordeaux, black, and gold hits. The signature collaborative logo with PSG’s badge remixed with the Jumpman logo instead of the Eiffel Tower made its way onto the shoe’s heel tab. Additionally, the pair was packaged in a co-branded box with a Bordeaux lid and a grass-like graphic emulating the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the PSG x Air Jordan 4 “Bordeaux”<\/strong> collab, the Parisian club was fitted in a kit with the same color combination as a part of the team’s club campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a hairy suede upper, green details, and vibrant orange accents, the women’s exclusive Air Jordan 4<\/a> was an effort to appease Travis Scott fanatics while ensuring the colorway could stand on its own without a collaborative partner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the Air Jordan 5<\/a>, the “Grape” iteration has withstood the test of time. Dating back to its original release in 1990, the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” <\/strong>remains one of the most covered AJ5s, despite MJ never wearing the pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last 30 years, the AJ5 “Grape” has been rereleased but never in its original form with Nike Air branding on the back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonetheless, the “Grape” AJ5 is still a cult classic regardless of which iteration you have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, the king of Kings wore his set of Air Jordan 5 Lows<\/a>. While never releasing to the public like his other PEs, the AJ5 Low remains one of the Jumpman’s finest work for Mike Bibby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
