Michael Jordan might have put black and red into the closets of many, but before rocking with the Bulls, MJ was doing his thing in Carolina repping the Pantone 248 ‘Carolina’ blue. With some upcoming Jordans in this hue of blue, the Snkrs Day staff dug into the archives to find some of the best Air Jordan sneakers that made pays some homage to MJ alma mater.<\/p>\n

Did you ever think a new Air Jordan 9 Retro, possessing a very similar colorway, would have more appeal than the classic Air Jordan 9 White\/Black-University Blue? Well, the latter sneaker is still sitting on the shelves, while this pair is highly-anticipated by many.<\/p>\n

15. Air Jordan XX3 “UNC”<\/h3>\n

The Air Jordan 14 Black\/University Blue is memorable for a number of reasons. If you recall, this sneaker first hit the market on the same day Jordan Brand re-released the original White\/Red Air Jordan 14. Also, many sneaker enthusiasts took a liking to it seeing that it possessed the same colorway seen on the “Nubuck” Air Jordan 12s.<\/p>\n

The Air Jordan 17 is most memorable for the suitcase, yet, this pair brings us back to MJ’s backpack days on campus.<\/p>\n

This sneaker first released solely in women’s sizes, yet, guys were proud to rock a pair of these without shame in their game and rightfully so. Five months later, Jordan Brand released these in men’s sizes.<\/p>\n

This sneaker was created exclusively for the Jordan Motorsports team; however, a couple of sizes appeared on eBay during the summer of 2009. Only 23 pairs are said to be in existence.<\/p>\n

The Air Jordan 12 “Nubuck” is one of the groundbreaking installments within the Air Jordan series. This sneaker was the first Air Jordan to be sold exclusively online and the first Air Jordan to be sold in a package. Lastly, the Air Jordan 12 “Nubuck” was the first retro Jordan to break the $200 mark.<\/p>\n

David Stern fined Michael Jordan for wearing the Air Jordan 11 in a game during the 1995 NBA playoffs. On the contrary, we think UNC would have given MJ extra money had these been created and worn during his UNC years.

Obviously, the Air Jordan 1 is one of the sneakers that started the shoe fetishes we have today, and this particular colorway is without a doubt one of the forefathers of the entire line.<\/p>\n

Michael Jordan began his post high school career at the University of North Carolina, likewise, Jordan Brand began MJ’s last signature sneaker series with a ‘Carolina Blue’ Air Jordan XX3.<\/p>\n
