Reebok<\/a><\/strong> has a vast archive of ’90s basketball sneakers and alongside iconic Reebok basketball silhouettes such as the Reebok Question and Reebok Shaqnosis is Shawn Kemp’s first signature sneaker, the Reebok Kamikaze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unmistakable sneaker has now officially been renamed the Reebok Hurrikaze<\/strong>, as the changes come with respect to the historical origins of the term “Kamikaze” per press release. Japanese Kamikaze pilots would fly into Allied naval ships and vessels as a suicide attack which lead to thousands of deaths during WW2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a responsibility to be accountable, learn and grow as a brand, and although we can\u2019t change the past we can most definitely impact change for our future,\u201d commented Portia Blunt, Reebok\u2019s VP of global apparel and executive lead for its Human Rights Award. \u201cBy making this change we signal growth and acknowledge the impact words have on the those we serve within our diverse global sneaker community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Reebok Hurrikaze<\/strong> will be a priority for Reebok from collaborations to in-line releases and further its legacy throughout 2022 and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
