The team chose from a wide variety of sneakers this week. With no major Jordan news or anything from LeBron’s camp, some of the staff’s favorites were noticeably missing from the news. We made due though, thanks to some solid deliveries by Vans, adidas and of course, Nike.

Which staff member made the best choice this week?

Matt Halfhill

Take one of my favorite shoes ever and update with technology 2 decades newer = instant classic. The Lunar Air 180 is one of the best shoes of 2010 to not release in the US (yet?).

Nike Lunar Air 180 “Ultramarine”

What you have here is a classic, well-made shoe in a versatile colorway. This Valley Hi is a grown up-looking sneaker that could be worn to the club Saturday night and then to church on Sunday (if your Mama would let you).

adidas Originals Valley Hi Grey

The Nike Zoom Hyperfuse is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated basketball sneakers in awhile and this blue/black pair is my personal favorite. Sure, Rondo’s green/black Hyperfuse PEs are amazing, yet, this pair is just as nice.

Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Blue/Black

I’ve never really taken to the Sk8-Hi. The Re-Issue Pack on the other hand, is great; especially the tan/grey pair. The perforated leather just contrasts nicely against the full-grain toe and midfoot. Consider these purchased.

Vans California Sk8-Hi Re-Issue

With the myriad of fusions and retro-inspired products on the market, it was dope to see some incredible original material from the Future Sole contestants. My two favorites were the Jordan Orgo by Neil Zemba and the Nike N7 Lunar Huarache by Rayyan Toh. Neil came up with a clean and futuristic Jordan that used clean lines reminiscent of Nike’s golden era. Rayyan created a crazy runner with a sick colorway and really cool ad campaign. ?My hat’s off to both and I hope to see both concepts on my feet someday!

Future Sole Contest Entires by Rayyan Toh & Neil Zemba Albert Lin

My expectations for the Zoom Kobe V were enormous, especially after the Zoom Kobe IV. The ZKIV is probably one of the best sneakers in Kobe’s long history of performance-based shoes. However, I thought that the actual ZKV shoe was a let down in comparison to the ZK4. In any case, the “Big Stage” is probably one of the best colorways. It joins the ranks of the “Chaos,” “Dark Knight,” and “Kid Hollywood” colorways atop the best final products.

Nike Zoom Kobe V “Big Stage” Coming to Retail?

Mike Parsley

The Vans Era Surf Lagoon/Cream grabbed my attention the second I saw the photos. Aesthetics aside, the fact that these are an original colorway from 1967 really made me interested in the shoe. The colors on the shoe are dope as well and I’m really feeling the Lagoon Green quarter panel. The Blunt Orange accents top off the shoe and make them high on my priority list. This shoe matches perfectly with the summer season, and would look great on my feet.

Vans Era Surf Lagoon/Cream-Blunt Orange

The team chose from a wide variety of sneakers this week.
