Virginia native and Los Angeles resident, Sean Wotherspoon has been living a sneakerhead’s dream. He has established ROUNDTWO into a premier storefront for locals and stars to find some of the rarest streetwear pieces. Most recently, he has become the face of Nike’s “Vote Forward” contest as one of twelve “Revolutionairs” plucked from the sneaker ranks to reimagine the Air Max for Air Max Day.
With the help of KicksVision we’re able to dive a little deeper and get a feel for the Sean Wotherspoon Nike Air Max 1/97 Hybrid.
For this author, corduroy has a dear place in my heart derived from being outfitted by my Mother in Oshkosh B’gosh to reading Corduroy the Bear as a kid. In Sean’s words, “Corduroy is the shit”. Yup, I agree.
Using said styling, the multi-color material radiates vintage vibes off the Air Max 97 upper while sitting atop an Air Max 1 midsole and outsole. Velcro tongue patches offer some personal customization while multi-color checks dance around the upper.
In addition, denim pull tabs line the tongue and also the heel by adding texture to a design that never lacked depth. Some key final touches are an Infrared Air unit, “VA to LA” etched into the heel tab and removable insoles.
A global release is set for Air Max Day 2018. Stay locked into Snkrs Day to keep in touch. Can’t wait for the wider drop? Watch our unboxing video here.
