Notre Dame‘s athletic teams have worn adidas gear since before Rudy, but it looks like that tradition may be coming to an end. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the school is leaving the Three Stripes and joining the Under Armour team. With their adidas contract expiring at the end of this school year, every Fighting Irish sports team is expected to switch brands in the near future. Well-known as one of the most valuable equipment contracts in college athletics, Notre Dame’s deal with adidas officially began in 1997, with a 10-year renewal in 2005. When the University of Michigan signed a record-setting $8.2 million with the German company in 2008, ND seemed to become second priority and opened up their options for a change. Notre Dame would join Maryland, Auburn, Northwestern, South Carolina and six other notable schools wearing Under Armour on every playing surface, including College Kicks On Court.
