Nike announced its partnership on-field partnership with Major League Baseball that would start in 2020. The Swoosh, as expected, is bringing together elements from the clubs, their loyal fans, and the city’s identity with the City Connect collection.

Nike is uniquely suited for our relationship with MLB because we like pushing the edges of creativity across the board, but it’s always done out of a place of trust and respect.

We take that same attentive energy in hearing insight from athletes and apply that to visualizing new and familiar relationships between clubs, cities, and fans.

The collection taps seven clubs for the initial rollout, with the Boston Red Sox leading the charge. The Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, and the San Francisco Giants are part of the first series. Eventually, every team in the league will have their own City Connect Jersey release.

The Nike Boston Red Sox City Connect jersey is inspired by Patriots’ Day and sport’s power to unite Bostonians. Patriots’ Day, a tradition for all Bostonians, celebrates the relentless spirit of champions. The jersey colors tap into the city and club’s shared values of drive, grit, and resilience.

On the left sleeve, a racing bib honors the prestigious Boston Marathon and takes it a step further with “617” within the bib to represent the Boston area code where Fenway Park resides.

Take a look at the Red Sox jersey below.  The jersey takes the field on April 17 and releases on April 6 on SNKRS, the Nike App and nike.com, and at the MLB Flagship Store (NYC) and select retail locations. Stay tuned for more from the City Connect collection here at Snkrs Day.
