Nike has announced that it has suspended its relationship with Kyrie Irving.
The decision from the brand arrives days after the Brooklyn Nets guard shared a documentary to his Instagram story that expressed anti-semitic viewpoints. In the days that followed, Irving was fined by the league and later suspended for five games without pay by the team.
Irving would later apologize for his remarks.
Nike released a statement regarding its decision denouncing hate speech and anti-semitism.
At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of anti-semitism.
To that end, we’ve made the decision to suspend our relationship with Kyrie Irving effective immediately and will no longer launch the Kyrie 8.
We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.
