A little over a week ago, Snkrs Day was able to sit courtside as Nike showcased their flagship basketball shoe for this upcoming season, the Hyperize. The event was set in our backyard at Austin’s own Reagan High School and was intended as a means to allow Foot Locker and Footaction employees to test the Hyperize. That way, when back at work, they may convey the shoe’s performance to their customers.

The employees filed into the gym anxious to showcase something of their own; it was clear the Foot Locker v. Footaction rivalry was poppin’. Ashley McLean, the event coordinator, commenced the festivities with a technological breakdown of the Hyperize. Many of you are probably intimately familiar with the specifications of this sneaker, yet let us rehash its performance highlights. The Hyperize features the latest wave of technology served up from the Innovation Kitchen in Lunarlite Foam and Flywire. And in case you didn’t know this sneaker is, in fact, lighter than the Hyperdunk. Following up on its mechanical prowess, Ashley is quoted saying, “The Hyperize is the natural evolution to the Hyperdunk. And the guys definitely enjoyed playing in it and are excited about where Nike Basketball is going. I, myself, am looking forward to see how Austin responds to this shoe because they’ve shown a lot of love to our basketball shoes thus far.”

After Hyperize 101, the gym hosted Christmas in July as everyone was presented with a pair of Hyperizes to hoop in. The atmosphere was animated as friends and family showed up to support the players. The games began tournament-style with two games occurring at once and the victors moving on to face one another. Lakeline Foot Locker found victory in the end, however, Highland Footaction went out with a valiant streak of treys. Thanks to DJ Mike Swing for keeping the court live with his own crossovers on the 1s and 2s.
