The Air Jordan 5 “Grape” has long been busy in the rumor mill. Years ago, it was one-half of the “Grape/Laney” Pack that we’ve never seen in official form. These days, sample pairs have surfaced with Fresh Prince inspiration most notably seen via laceless construction and sewn-in eyelets.
While changing the composition on a classic is always touch territory, it’s possible that this sample is more a short story set to be an energy play rather than a GR intended for all. It’s been stated by @23talk that the laceless “Grape” 5s are part of a pack that’s an official collaboration with Will Smith. The pack would also include themed shirts and hoodies.
No details have been divulged by Jordan Brand as to proof of this pairing. Will was recently seen wearing Jordans in the form of his Philly mural. Just the same, a pack like this recalls memories of LS launches form the 2000s that were perhaps polarizing at the time because of their merch add-ons — think “Fire Red Laser” 4s and “Nubuck” 12s — but have grown nostalgic over time.
Keep it locked to Snkrs Day for more information regarding the laceless “Grapes.”
