Dunks Up For Grabs
My most memorable sneaker mishap happened about six years ago when I was coming home from college for the winter holidays. I had packed three pairs of Nike Dunks in a duffle bag – the SB De La Soul High, the “Bison Brown” Premium Mighty Crown and the “Santana” Premium Dunk. So, I arrived in NYC awaiting my aunt’s car to pick me & my girlfriend (at the time) up. When she got there, I loaded a bunch of our bags in my aunt’s car, and we headed home. The following day, I was ready to wear my De La Soul Dunks but couldn’t find them in the duffle bag. I assumed that I left them in my aunt’s car, so I wasn’t worried at all. It was once I called my aunt and confirmed with her that there was no duffle bag left behind in the car that I realized that they were left outside of where my aunt had picked us up. Three pairs of great-conditioned footwear gone just like that. I drove back to the place a day after but of course the bag wasn’t there. To this day it still hurts, but I re-purchased the De La Soul Dunks because that shoe is my holy grail, and I wouldn’t feel complete without them. Whomever found that duffle was Charlie Sheen – “winning” that year.
