Jordan Brand and Zion Williamson have announced the latest model in the Jordan Zion line with the announcement of the Jordan Zion 3.
The Zion 3 carries the design torch of being engineered for explosive flight, primarily for players who grab rebounds, elevate for layups, or explode for blocks. With the three design principles (launching, landing, and harnessing), Jordan Brand crafted the latest advancement in Zion’s line while tying back to his story.
Coming from Marion, South Carolina, and making it to the league, Zion’s story is the epitome of making it out of the mud. In order to create the look and still add performance benefits, the upper was created using 3-D imaging of Zion’s foot last launching through mud. Thus, the Jordan Zion 3 features a material and color splatter with haptic ink that represents stepping out of the mud while having the performance benefits of containment where players need it the most.
In one of the early brainstorming meetings, I told the Jordan Brand that I wanted my third signature shoe to really represent my dedication to my craft despite hard times growing up.
The success I’ve had so far hasn’t just happened because of my natural abilities. I kept saying I had to get it out the mud, you know, I had to really work for everything I have now.
When people put on my shoe, I hope they genuinely feel that greatness can come from anywhere, and dreams can be achieved if you work hard enough.

Additionally, Zion’s signature “Z” logo (inspired by Zion becoming the Jumpman’s first-ever Gen-Z signature athlete) stands out with a raised TPU material that also helps with lateral containment. Finally, the shoe is built with a Formula23 drop-in midsole, a Zoom Air bag for responsiveness and crash protection, and a clear rubber herringbone traction pattern for quickness and control.

The Jordan Zion 3 will launch in four colorways, starting with the North America-exclusive “Sanctuary” in September — dedicated to the stained glass windows of the sanctuary that Zion trains in during the offseason. In October, the brand will launch the “Mud, Sweat, and Tears” iteration with its galactic-inspired colors and high-gloss mud graphic representing Zion’s out-of-this-world ability and his down-to-earth nature.

The following colorway, “Fresh Paint”, will release in November and is inspired by the Air Jordan 4 with a twist — inspired by Zion making his own journey and inspiring a generation globally. In December, a black and white Zion 3 will release, drawing from Zion’s affinity for the classic and simplicity of a black and white sneaker.
