Could a George Russell x adidas Motorsport Collection be on the horizon?
Few drivers in Formula 1 blend performance and style as seamlessly as George Russell. As one of the sport’s most fashion-forward athletes, Russell finds himself at the heart of an exciting new collaboration between adidas and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team, a partnership that officially launches the Three-Stripes brand into the world of motorsport.
For Russell, the adidas Motorsport x Mercedes partnership is more than just another sponsor, it’s an opportunity to evolve his personal style on and off the racetrack.
“Fashion is something I’ve come to love, and I’ve realized how important it is to wear something that makes you feel good,” Russell said. “When you’re confident in what you’re wearing, it sets the tone for the day. As an athlete, when you feel good, you perform at your best.”

Shared values: Mercedes and adidas’ commitment to pushing boundaries
Beyond aesthetics, Russell sees strong parallels between Mercedes and adidas — two brands that continuously push the limits of their respective industries.
“It’s all about precision, perfection, and pushing boundaries,” he explained. “adidas is always trying to move forward, and Mercedes is constantly innovating and thinking of new ideas. That’s what’s really exciting with this partnership.”
To celebrate the new partnership, adidas launched a new footwear silhouette, the adidas Feroza, and revived the archived adi Racer sneaker, which Russell is particularly excited about.
“I’ve not seen that in years,” he said. “A race boot that you’ll be able to wear [anywhere].”

adidas’ game-changing tech for the entire Mercedes-AMG Petronas team
While drivers receive much of the spotlight in F1, Russell emphasized that the entire Mercedes team benefits from adidas’ high-performance gear.
“adidas is ensuring that everyone on the team has the best kit possible to get the most out of themselves,” he said. “The [mechanics] are on their feet all day, working long hours in the heat — they’re athletes themselves and need to be comfortable.”
To support the mechanics and drivers during race time, adidas equipped the team kits with AEROREADY technology for heat relief and moisture management. The jerseys also have a tailored fit that enhances mobility and comfort, which benefits the engineers as well.
“Our engineers are sitting at desks for long hours, adidas makes sure they’re comfortable and wearing the right equipment,” Russell said. “And of course, for [drivers] in the cockpit racing, we’re ensuring we’re at peak physical fitness. We share that same goal of trying to get the most out of everyone.”
While some details remain under wraps, Russell hinted at upcoming releases incorporating adidas Motorsport technology that will be seen in action from the Australian Grand Prix onward.

A future in fashion?
As one of the best-dressed drivers on the F1 grid, could a potential George Russell x adidas Motorsport collection be on the horizon?
“Never say never. I’ve got some ideas,” he teased. “We’re in [early] discussions, and we’ve only just started this partnership. We don’t want to run before we can walk, but I think everybody here is open to anything. We have an idea and they make it happen.”
The debut adidas Motorsport x Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS collection offers three apparel ranges, including the “DNA,” “Premium Sweat,” and “Tonal” collections. The performance-ready “DNA” line incorporates the Mercedes team colors, including the signature PETRONAS green, while the “Premium Sweat” and “Tonal” collections feature contemporary styles with subtle branding for everyday wear.
“There will be [collections] that we’ll be looking toward in the future,” Russell said. “There are so many projects going on and a few more drops that are going to come this season that are really cool and exciting.”

adidas’ impact on George Russell’s style evolution
Working with Adidas has also influenced Russell’s personal style, as he admits that the brand’s versatility has given him the freedom to explore new looks.
“With adidas, you can dress as loud or as quiet as you wish. The range is so vast,” he said. “I never used to dress loudly. I try to be understated and wear things a bit more timeless, but I’ve learned that I can step outside of my comfort zone, and when I do, I learn something about myself.”

Looking forward to the 2025 season with new Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS driver, Kimi Antonelli
More than just a new partnership with adidas, a lot has changed for Mercedes as the team prepares for the 2025 season with upcoming rookie driver, Kimi Antonelli.
“It’s really exciting having someone so young and fresh joining the team,” Russell said. “Kimi is going to be really fast, and he’s going to keep me on my toes. I’m excited for that new challenge, but also trying to get Mercedes back on top.”
Russell is ushering in Antonelli as he prepares for his first official F1 season as the replacement for seven-time F1 World Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton, who left Mercedes to join Ferrari after being with the team for 12 years.
“We had three great years with Lewis,” Russell said. “But as myself, Lewis, and Mercedes — three different parties — we didn’t achieve [everything] we wanted to achieve in those years. I think changing the mold for all of us, including Lewis, can only be beneficial for everyone. Kimi is young and fresh. I’m young and fresh. I’ve still got so much fire in me. We’re ready to fight.”
