Yesterday, Big Sean saw his second sneaker release from adidas. Just a decade ago, another Shawn saw his name all over SoundScans and sneaker boxes. The Reebok S. Carter kept it casual and classy during the dominant period of Timbs and AF1s, offering a new signature star during pro basketball’s bust in button-down friendly fashion. While the Gucci genealogy was apparent, this shoe still serves as somewhat of a standout in the artist-endorsed shoe realm. It’s classic inspiration makes it more timeless than most, while its spokesman’s longevity adds to such appeal. These days, Kanye West and Justin Timberlake are getting attention for their all-red sneakers. Turn the clock back almost two decades and Scottie Pippen was showing out just the same. With his wingman in the outfield, Pip became the man in Chicago and arguably the best in basketball. Such was seen in the 1994 when Scottie shined in the NBA All-Star Game, taking home MVP accolades with a 29 point, 11 rebound performance. On his feet were an all-red version of the Nike Air Maestro. Both the game and the shoes were breakout moments for the Silent Assassin. These retroed right around the decade mark, can we get a re-release next February for the 20 year anniversary? Truth be told, it hasn't been that long since Pendleton x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi released. Dropping in 2010, this limited launch followed up previous pairings between Pendleton and Vans Vault, mixing moccasin styling with the favorited fabric. While the terms 'mature' and 'lux' come to mind when describing this collab, the colorway still featured enough character and creativity to standout. Smart stitch work, choice leather and slanted panelling make this release more than worthy of a second run. We want these for the fall, bring 'em back!
