Name: SSgt Brandon Richardson
Branch: United States Air Force
Years in the Service: 5
Originally From: Suffolk, Va
Currently Stationed: March Air Reserve Base, Riverside, CA
Snkrs Day: Has being in the military helped or hurt your ability to cop the shoes you want?
SSgt Richardson: Between deployments and traveling for my job, the military has definitely assisted my love for the game. Deployments gave me time to look for that grail as well meet fellow sneakerheads across the world.
Snkrs Day: What sneaker would you consider your grail or a shoe you regret missing out on?
SSgt Richardson: The Air Jordan 11 “Space Jams”. Easily the biggest regret of all time. I was deployed when they dropped, and my buddy worked at Finish Line at the moment. I spoke with him shortly before the release, and he told me he could use his discount to get them to me. I thought they were just alright at the moment so I passed. I will never forgot that day
Snkrs Day: What do you attribute your love of sneakers to?
SSgt Richardson: One of my brothers in arms. We were stationed together at our first base, and he didnt have a car so he frequently asked for rides to the post office. He was so excited every time, and I was thinking “whats so special in this box?”. Finally, I got annoyed and asked him. Then, he showed me his collection and explained the stories behind certain kicks.
Snkrs Day: What is the favorite shoe in your collection?
My Nike SB Dunk High “De La Soul”. The art put in that shoe is priceless. It took me 2 years to find a pair in my size.
Snkrs Day: Do you notice a difference in kicks worn in the various places you have been stationed, visited, or people you come in contact with being in the military?
Big difference. I’m centrally located between L.A. and San Diego, and most people out here are on Vans. Many people have given me credit for my Dunk Sb collection, but very few rock.
