It looks like Ivy Park will be no longer as Beyoncé is leaving adidas.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision was mutual between Three-Stripes and Queen Bey to terminate the sneakers and sportswear partnership.
While the split is shocking, it’s not surprising, as it was recently revealed that IVY PARK sales had been down substantially. It had been reported that the IVY PARK x adidas collection missed around $200 million in projected sales.
In 2016, Beyoncé first debuted her IVY PARK line which offered activewear and general apparel. The BeyHive swarmed to the collection which was released in conjunction with her critically-acclaimed “Lemonade” album and “The Formation World Tour.”
It was one of the biggest moments of Beyoncé’s career and undoubtedly certified her as the global superstar that we know today. Adidas was quick to react and struck up a deal with Beyoncé in 2018, resulting in the relaunch of IVY PARK x adidas in Spring of 2019.
Since then, it’s been reported that there has been major creative differences between the partners, and that Beyoncé is looking to rebrand and maintain her creative freedom, which has always been a top priority for the artist.
When IVY PARK first debuted, it was a joint venture between Beyoncé and Topshop’s Sir Philip Green, but that 50/50 partnership came to an end in 2018. Beyoncé gained full ownership of Ivy Park before signing with adidas.
With this in mind, it’s unclear if moving forward IVY PARK will cease to exist completely, or if the line will live on solely under the creative direction and development of Beyoncé alone.
In January of this year, Beyoncé previewed “Park Trail,” her latest IVY PARK x adidas installment, which featured the adidas Top Ten 2000 and the adidas Nite Jogger 7.0. As of now, there’s no word as to whether or not the “Park Trail” capsule will be the final collection from IVY PARK x adidas.
